    Default HALP !!!!!

I'm having the worst time getting my Wolf (special) to tune up correctly. I've changed nothing, but, all of a sudden, When I tune the low E to D, with dtuna out, & clamp down the nut it goes sharp. No amount of creative tuning (clamping down flat) seems to help. Should I tighten up on the string tree some.

If your trem floats at all tighten your spring claw slightly. Sounds like it's pulling down when you lessen the string tension by D-tuning.

Obviously as a Wolfgang it shouldn't... but is it? The only way a double-locking system would go out of tune just by D-tuning is that the tremolo is pulling up a bit. Just make sure it's planted against the body before you D-tune and my guess is your Wolfgang will stay in tune. If this doesn't help call Matt Bruck.

yes, try tightening the string tree a bit. there should be no gap between the string and the nut. also, use new strings if you can.

Have you tried adjusting the small screw in the D-Tuna? The one that uses the tiny allen key wrench.
If you have nothing nice to say about Eddie Van Halen, you're at the right website. - Me (A few years ago)

"People take Van Halen much more seriously than we do" - David Lee Roth (1980's)

"I don't sit on the end of your bed while you're trying to make a living" - David Lee Roth (1988)

"For some reason people love to complain about everything. The internet has made it easy for people to do that. Shut the fuck up and get a life, or show me how good you can do it."- Edward Van Halen

"A lot of people ask me which Van Halen singer was better. You can't compare them. It's like asking which guitarist is better. Nobody is better than anybody. Every player is their own person."-Edward Van Halen

"I do like Eddie Van Halen as a player. He gets it right quite often." -Paul McCartney

Due to the title of the thread, maybe you have your A and E strings confused?
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!
