    Great cover, great magazine...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

    No one's given a 'number'

They've done this issue really well as they've not given anyone a number, ie, it's not the usual:

    1. Jimi
    2. Eddie
    3. Page
    4. Clapton
    etc....

They've simply asked the top 100 'current' guitarists (including Ed) to comment on their top 100 players. Eddie is discussed by Richie Kotzen (another personal fave of mine; hell of a player) and Ed discusses Clapton (although it's from an old interview).

I subscribe to this and got the Hendrix cover (Arse !). The Ed cover is amazing; i'd not seen that picture before either, very cool.

"Inside the wallet you’ll find one of four immensely collectable covers: Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards or Frank Zappa"

Keith Richards? He is a good guitarist, but great? That is a stretch.

Same. The Hendrix one is pretty cool, just not as good as the Eddie one.

Keith Richards is one of the greatest musicians in the world. He's said it himself - he's musically very talented, but he's basically a creator of music not a guitar player. The guitar is his instrument of choice, but his talent isn't in his technique. The theory that he can't play more than that just because he doesn't is a bit silly too...he's too much of a team player to want to take centre stage for long enough to do a mega epic solo.

He can still hold a rhythm, playing 'around' it better than anyone though. The sound on "Shine A Light" is mind-blowing, so expressive.

Yep. All too often some of the older guys get criticized by modern guitar wank fans because they can't/don't play 32nd notes, sweep picking and neo-classical arpeggios every measure.

Keith Richards is the freaking man and his ability, as you mentioned, to play around the beat and the rhythm is second to none. Nuno is very good at it too.

There was a different mentality among players like George Harrison and Keith Richards. There was no notion of being a guitar hero. Both of these guys are cut from the same mold. They are (in George's case was) content to sit back and play rhythm while others rip a solo...but when they do decide to let it rip, watch out.
    Stay out of it, dude.
