Default House lawmakers to spend $550 million for additional jets for senior gov officials

The plan to upgrade the fleet of government jets, which was buried in a broader defense-funding bill, has also sparked criticism from the Pentagon, which has said it doesn't need half of the new jets.

Two Missouri senators, Democrat Claire McCaskill and Republican Christopher Bond, said they would oppose funding for the jets when the legislation is taken up by the Senate in September.

"The whole thing kind of makes me sick to my stomach," said Mrs. McCaskill in an interview Sunday. "It is evidence that some of the cynicism about Washington is well placed -- that people get out of touch and they spend money likes it's Monopoly money."

Sen. John Thune (R., S.D.) says the planned purchase "is a classic example of Congress being out of touch with the realities of deficit spending."

The Obama administration had sought $220 million to buy four passenger jets, including two that are currently being leased by the Air Force, to replace a fleet of older planes. Before leaving town for the August break, House lawmakers doubled the aircraft order to eight, at a total cost of $550 million.

this is a great example of the kind of spending that, if brought to an end, would allow for health care and education without increasing taxes.
    Stay out of it, dude.

Most likely since this report is negative, it must be swatsika wearing members of the Republican party writing it.

Why, why, why do people support any party? They are all fucking corrupt.

ok...so if we're assembling an all-badass strike force, I think I'm going to go to war with Dalton, The Swayze, and Bruce Lee as my big three. Who else makes the team? Norris gets in on sentimentality but I think Lee owns Norris and I think I'd take a young, in his prime Dalton over him too.

Norris has back fur which would hurt in a fight.

I just read a blog about the biggest bad asses in movie history and from a fictional perspective, Jason Bourne was the baddest of them all.

However Jack Burton from Big Trouble In Little China wouldn't be too bad to have along in a scrap. For one he is played by Kurt Russel and second, he got Kim Cattrel back in her hotter days.

Oh yeah and he had a mullet which everybody knows is a source of strength like Samson.

Jason Bourne would be a damn good guy to have. I like it.

Bourne, Lee, Norris, Dalton, The Swayze.

I'll take those 5 against the entire US army.

Now since Patrick Swayze played Dalton and is also part of the Fearsome Fivesome, is he just going to be himself? Would there be any sort of paradox with him seeing himself as Dalton? I don't want Doc Brown getting mad at us.

shit, no I wasn't thinking about Dalton...I was thining about Wade Garrett.

    My bad.

So my revised Big 5 would be:

The Swayze, Bruce Lee, Jason Bourne, Chuck Norris and Wade Garrett.

Oh I just thought of a few other people who may be better than Norris. One has a sketchy history as of late with his personal beliefs but probably has played more bad asses with great commercial success to boot.

Mel Gibson. Mad Max, Reese from Lethal Weapon, William Wallace and also played a Revolutionary War hero. Any of those guys are worth the price of admission.

The other one is Bruce Willis.

yep...I would take them over Norris now that you mention it.

Honestly, the norris jokes and subculture thing are cool and all, but I was never really a chuck norris guy.

Bruce Lee, the Swayze and Wade Garret are my big three.

    Jason Bourne vs William Wallace

now THAT is a battle I'd like to see!

Mel also did a movie with Sam Elliot where both of them were pretty bad ass. We Were Soldiers.

Sam even shaved off the stache and still kicked ass.

Jason would most likely would win over Braveheart just because he knows how to use a gun. Wallace would pick it up and probably would try to make a spear out of it.
