Solid performance. Did EVH have the same intentions with Sheryl Crow as he did with Patti Smyth?

Crucifying a classic Stones song...as a Stones fan I ask that Sheryl, please keep this type of crap confined strictly to the Beatles catalog.

Even Eddie's solo, while good, didn't contribute anything positive to the vibe of song either...some songs just don't need to be covered.

Damn that Sheryl Crow was something else back then. Whoo

Ed's solo is impressive. However, I think it's a little over-the-top for the song. Sheryl sings it decently, but it's nothing noteworthy.

Regardless, it's a cool jam. Awesome seeing Ed and Richie Sambora on stage jamming together. I would guess this was Summer 1996. I'm positive on the year, but by Ed's appearance with the short(er) hair it was obviously before the VMA disaster, so I'd say this was the somber period between Sam's firing and the announcement of Dave's return.

Just a guess. 100% positive it is 1996, though.

EDIT: October 21, 1996. So, post VMA. Kinda surprised about that, to be honest. It was a stellar performance though, can be found on the "Eddie Van Halen & Friends" bootleg DVD set.

Here's one featuring the better singer of Bon Jovi on lead vocals at parts:

Didn't she also cover Sweet Child O Mine before she stole Lance Armstrong away from his wife? That was worse than this but Eddie makes it tolerable since he appears sober.

Yeah, both Crow's and EVH's performances seem uninspired. She looks positively bored and Ed's solo is way over the top for this song. The only thing they got right was long-time Stones sideman Bobby Keys on sax. I've always been disappointed that Ed didn't mature like Clapton and become the guy that all of his contemporaries and those he inspired wanted to jam with in situations like this.
