    Default Settings on Vox Valvetronix?

Hi, I wonder if anyone can recommend best settings for a Vox Valvetronix. I have the 30w version and have it set on US Higain (5150 model)...I can't seem to avoid getting a really trebly, screechy sound, no matter what I do...I'm wondering if anyone can recommend optimal settings (Gain, Treble, Middle, Bass) to get a nice warm sound and something like an EVH tone. Guitar-wise I use a Les Paul, Wolfgang EXP and homemade Frankie with a GFS Fat Pat pickup...any assistance would be appreciated.

I thought the US Higain model was a Soldano SLO-100.

It could be...according to the owner's manual, it's modeled on the overdrive channel of an all-tube 100w head built in 1991 "covered in snakeskin"....I assumed it was the 5150 as I didn't know of any other high-profile high-gain amps introduced in 1991...I could certainly be wrong though....

Hi, thanks for the reply...I know that the amp is capable of great tone but I just haven't had any luck dialling in an optimal setting for the controls...I keep fiddling around and can make it sound ok, but not great...may I ask how you have your controls set to see if I can try the same thing?

Check out the "Presets" area at www.valvetronix.net. That site has a TON of info about what you can do with Valvetronix amps.
One thing to make sure you do is crank the master volume all the way and use the attenuator knob in the back as your volume control...this overdrives the tube pre-amp and gets a much warmer tone.
I have the AD30VT too and my "VH-ish" settings are:
    Amp Model: UK 80s
    Gain: Cranked all the way
    Volume & Treble: 2 o'clock
    Middle: 11 o'clock
Bass: A little more than treble, about 2:30
Effects on "Reverb" and the effect level knob about 8 o'clock
My guitar is a Mexi Strat with a SD hotrails in the bridge; on the bridge pickup I dial back the volume to about 5.
"Look, I'll pay you for it, what the f**k?!"
