    Default Meanwhile back in Paris..........Streetheart

I purchased a 120 gig Ipod recently, and so now i'm loading the bejesus out of it with stuff that wasn't making the cut when i only had an 8 gig, but i digress. In running through some old cd's i stumbled across "Over 60 minutes with Streetheart".

Can i get any love for Streetheart from my Canadian brethren, or anyone else familiar with these guys?

The title of the thread is the title of their debut album in 78. The band featured Kenny Shields, arguably one Canada's greatest voices, as well as Paul Dean and Matt Frenette who later left to form Loverboy. Spider Sinnaeve was the bass player, he's considered by many to be one of the finest players in the country, and replaced Steve Smith in Loverboy when he died.
And a guy named Daryl Guthiel who still plays keyboards with the band today.

They had a great run til about 1984 after an album designed to break them in the US flamed out badly.

Over the years they recorded a cover of "Under My Thumb" that Keith Richards said he liked better than the Stones version, and said it was the best cover of one of their tunes he'd ever heard.

There still hitting the clubs and outdoor summer circuit in the Great White North, and you can check out some of it here at:

And if anyone out there has a copy of their 1983 "Live After Dark", i'd love to hear from you.
The album was recorded over three nights in Winnipeg, Regina and Edmonton, and i attended the Edmonton show. I was 19, and it was one of the most memorable good nights of my life for so many reasons.
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

This next part could really confuse things. Let's stay focused. #asis

Still the best band for your buck band out there. Played regularly on the radion up here in Canada. Snow White, Under My Thumb, Here Comes the Night, Action, Hollywood,What kind of love is this... all summer staples up here. They play the smaller club circuit and fairs in the summers up here and they are as tight a band as you will find. Never quite go the attention they deserved. Jeff Neill absolutely is totally underated as a guitar player. Kenny still has the pipes. Good luck finding a copy of Live after Dark...that is one of the finest live albums ever in my opinion but 60 minutes of streetheart has most of the great tunes (except a shortened under my thumb.)
Under my Thumb is probably the best cover of a stones tune EVER! Case closed!

    Peace . Out!

The "Over 60..." version of "Under My Thumb" is indeed an edited version of the original "Live After Dark" version.
if you recall, the full version included a bit of Shields commentary about a young lady with exceptional oral skills.

Thanks for the link, i'll give it a go.

And PS colink, welcome to the links.
Nice to see someone from E town on board.
That's home for me, but i'm a bit further north now.
Still in Wild Rose country though.
