    Default Mesa Dual rectifier

I need some direction. I have been playing my 5150's for years. I have the I, II, and III. I use my I for gigging. Today I played thru a Mesa at Guitar Center. It was a Mesa Dual Rectifier 100w. Holy Cow..... This thing screams.

Am I nuts, or are these things for real? The bottom end was out of control. I have heard these are hit and miss, so if any of you have any guidance before I get one please let me know. As it stands right now, I would trade my 5150III for this thing. That is how impressed I was. Thanks!

Go with your gut. Some people love em, some hate em. Your playing is your preference. Lot of heavier bands use them, most classic rock bands stick with Marshalls.
    Your favorite band sucks.

Never been blown away by Mesas like some people. Our singer had a Rectoverb that was totally unimpressive. He sold it. I got better tone out of my 5150 and that's saying something. But of course that was a Rectoverb not a Dual Recti.

They are too overpriced for what you get. I'd rather have a III or several others instead. Besides, Mesa doesn't sound any better than a 5150II.

It just depends on what you can get one for. I bought my 1992 Dual Recto for $750 shipped. It sounds amazing, although I really don't use it much lately.

I went and got it. I got it home and it had horrible tone. I returned it. Case closed. Long live the 5150's.

the dual and triple recs are some of the worst things to happen to rock music. I have never understood why so many people are so obsessed with that crappy PRS through a Mesa tone. It's god awful.

Mesa does a fantastic job of marketting and they protect their bottom line and the perceived value of their product by not allowing any haggling on the retail level. I applaud them for that, but that doesn't mean their products are any good.

I've experienced dozens and dozens of major quality control issues over the years...crap showing up fresh from the factory in sealed boxes with components not fully screwed in, wood not cut correctly, corners not screwed in...all kinds of stuff.

but damn if they aren't popular.

You know what you like so I'm not going to tell you that you're insane for liking a dual rec more than something else but I will say that I wouldn't buy one of those with YOUR money much less my own...both from a tone standpoint as well as a build quality standpoint.
    Stay out of it, dude.

I never liked the tone from a Mesa but a lot of people like them so maybe its just me.

My guitarist has one and I get much better tone from my 5150 combo. Well at least that is what I hear from other guitarists.
