Default Changed my mind...this is my new "FrankenFINE"

Okay. I was going to sell it, but the more I looked at it, the more I started to like the look of the curly top. I decided that I'd build it up and see what it felt like. After playing it for about 2 days now, I think it will quickly become one of my favorites. I'm trying to decide whether I want to put the "worn" looking parts in it, or put shiny new ones.

I'm always embarrassed to say what pick up I have in because they always get dogged here, but I have 7 of them now and personally I think they rock HARD. The best part is they are like $30. GFS "VEH" pick up. People may dog them because they are probably a little hotter than the 78 or the EVH, but I like a little more edge for all the 80's stuff I like to play.

    Anyway...thanks for looking.

No need to be embarrassed about the VEH, Fat. There are a number of people on here that have already sipped that Kool-Aid...and gone back for seconds.

I've got a neck/bridge pair that I'm itching to get into a EBMM knock-off. I've got to "tobacco-burst" the body (just no time) and then slap those babies in...pretty sure they'll rock nice and hard from the jump.

I wouldn't used "relic'd" hardware or parts for this particular project, it just wouldn't be consistent with the overall "clean" look of the neck and body. I think it looks great the way it is!

I currently own two "VEH" bridge humbuckers and I'm not embarrassed to say that I am extremely happy with both. They are great pick-ups and you simply can't beat the price!

Yeah. With all that grain it's too pretty for relic'd hardware...and I mean that in the best possible sense.

    I agree with this post.
    I love the look!
When I make up "Factory Finished" Frankenstrats, I only go with new, shiny, stuff.

Dude... nice parts on that body! Also, don't ever feel like you can't admit what parts you're using or what you like on here. We all have our reasons for liking what we like. And the VEH rules. It's becoming one of my all-time favorite pickups.

I'm going to make a Strat body with an All Acess Neck Joint. Anyone ever seen one before? Any pics? That's the one thing I don't like about this guitar is the way the heel feels like a 4x4.

The question is how much more figured can that guitar be?

Yeah, it's a 5A Top, and a 5A Fretboard. The neck back (you can see the figure on the headstock) has massive figure too, but I bought that a local lumber supplier so it didn't have a rating.

it really is quite striking. I'm not a fan of highly figured wood, generally speaking, but this is really pretty.

Thanks. Like I said, my only hang up with it is that big square heel. I think I'm going to try and make a more comfy neck joint.
