Default Did Eddie interact much with Sammy and Mike on the '04 tour?

For those here that saw any of the shows or have seen any of the bootleg vidoes, did Eddie acknowledge Sammy or Mike very much onstage during that tour?

Everything seemed fine at the Cleveland show.

I forget where the show was, but I remember somebody on YouTube posted a video of all three standing next to each other singing Finish What Ya Started.

Oh yes. They all were very appreciative of each other on stage. Very professional all of them.

I saw them in Las Vegas and Los Angeles and except for the show in LA when Eddie and Alex started the intro for 'Hot for Teacher' and Sammy had the 'deer in the headlights' look all seemed cool between them all.

Eddie was in such a different state on the '04 tour that I wouldn't take anything he did with either Mike or Sam as "interacting", its like back in high school when you were shitfaced at a party and actually hung out with people that you didn't like.
They have had a great run together all of them in some ways, I'd bet today if a (sober) Ed patched things up with Sam and Mike that they could do a killer tour. I don't know if a new album would be all that inspiring though, not sure if the next VH album with Dave will be all that inspiring either but its something fans have been waiting for for 25 years. So in that aspect I think it would do better sales wise, but in these days what do album sales really mean anyways? Its the tours that make them the money, Poison and others have also been touring pretty consistantly the past few years and where is their new music? But I thknk that Ed wants to make new music for people to hear, thats what a true musician does. I also think he wants to get Wolfies name on a Van Halen album at somepoint.

the tension between Sam and Ed was very clear at the Hamilton show. At one point Sam said something like "we got 20 more shows". Ed then got on the mic and screamed 'you're fucking counting?". Clearly there was trouble in paradise.

My friend is a special events bartender for the Mandalay Bay. He told me that other people told him things were tense for one reason or another. He talked with Sammy, Mike, and Alex. Said they were all friendly. They even signed some beer coasters for me. He said he only saw Eddie once and that was from about 20 feet away.

My friend got on quite well with some of the video guys. Still in touch with one of them, last time he brought it up last year. They told him there's lots of great video from '04 with lots of great guitar biffs, as well. I posted on this a long time ago...perhaps it's still here (I don't remember when the big Links crash was).

I went to a bunch of the shows. Yeah, you could feel the tension. I especially got that feeling at the last few shows I attended, and that was after news came out that the brothers wouldn't allow Sam to show any Cabo Wabo stuff. When Sammy did his solo bit and had a small palm tree, it just had the feeling of him trying to get this little bit of paradise, instead of the full-on feeling we normally get from him.

I met Michael Anthony on the tour, and he was great. Totally down to earth and normal. Moments later it was Ed, who seemed spaced-out with like a hundred-mile stare. Asked him if he'd sign the same CD booklet Mike just signed, and he just flew out a bunch of excuses of why he couldn't do it. All the while more concerned with stirring his glass of wine with his finger. The whole "oh man, if I do that then I gotta do it for everyone..." and "aww, that's not what I'm here for" spiel seemed to take longer than if he just quickly scribbled a few sigs.

Denver was fine, certainly nothing magical.

Mike did sign an autograph, the bros. did not.

    Lots of respect for MA.

At the sound check Eddie was amazing, for the show, he was bombed. Two completely different guitarist from the soundcheck to the start of the show, very sad.

I was at the second to last Tucson show. guy I knew Got me front row against the stage on Mikes side. Mike handed me his beer during his solo. The guy said after the show we could go back stage. So we waited, and after ten minutes, he came back out and said "you dont want to go back there right now. It's better to not meet your idols. Things are tense back there right now."

So, we obviously know what happened the next night. I guess it had been brewing for a while on that tour.

I went to the first Worcester show and the Hartford show. Those were at the beginning of the tour and things seemed fine on stage between the band members.

Crap! I misread and misunderstood the question. Sorry...

I was only at the OKC show. The interaction was good, but it was no love fest like the first three Sammy-era tours. There was some distance between Eddie and the rest. The OKC show wasn't a tension convention; there just wasn't a lot of great interaction.

There were lots of hugs between Eddie and Sammy and the rest of the guys at the St. Paul show in July. One thing Sammy didn't declare at that point--like he had for most of the shows in June--was the big "We're back!" I recall seeing him say that on a lot of the boots within those first few weeks, but by July I'm sure he could see things weren't going to hold together. I later went to the Halloween show in Fargo; I went because I'd been reading up on all the tension and wondered if it would be my last chance to ever see VH. They weren't as interactive, but the band was ON, and Eddie's solo that night completely changed how I think about music and the guitar. (I recall after his solo spot, Mike walked over to Ed, put his arm around him, and said something right in his ear. The two were smiling big, and I always wondered if Mike was complimenting Ed's playing. I certainly would have after that solo.)

A lot of fake smiles were present I'm sure...

Ed really interacted with his guitar in Tuscon, yep...
