Default Don't go to sleep.....the Hall of Horror

Good horror can be hard to come by so my list of movies seen is quite extensive. Thought I might put a few lists of notables out there based on my quest and in turn I hope to get some suggestions from other horror fans! I'm going to TRY and stick to titles not so mainstream, no Hollywood Horror (Scream, I Know....) or classic horror (The Thing) as most of us have already seen them...

    Gore/Slasher/Serial Killer:
Hatchet - (beginning acting is hard to sit thru but trust me it's worth it! This is some serious ass gore here folks! If you don't mind "ruining" the experience then check out the "Making of" in the special features. MUST SEE)
P2 - A womans worst nightmare...has some good gore too.
    Rest Stop: Don't Look Back
Jeepers Creepers (over popularized now that it's on tv 5 times a week...but still good)
    The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
    The Hills Have Eyes 2
    The Hitcher (2007)

    Torture / Trapped:
    Hostel - The ultimate torture
    Hostel 2
Audition (Japanese) - A movie to make a man whimper
    Saw(s)
    Cube

    Skin Crawling and Creatures:
    The Mist
    28 Weeks Later
    The Beast Within
Pumpkin Head - One of THE best creatures ever! IMO
Masters of Horror: Jenifer (Actually there are several good Masters of Horror...check them all out)
Puppet Master - There is nothing creepier than inanimate objects being animate
    Deep star Six
    The Evil Dead (1981)
    Slither

Of course there are many others in my head but I'll be damned if I can remember their titles...

    C'mon....scare the crap outta me...

c'mon...you left out Susperia and other Argento flicks, George Romero and Tom Savini. NOT TO MENTION flicks like 2,000 Maniacs, Motel Hell, Texas Chainsaw...

it's a good list you started though and this is an awesome idea for a thread.

    well done!
    Stay out of it, dude.

    Ah....forgot all about "Cube".

Excellent film. Very mind-fuckingly original for its time. Never saw anything like it.

I forgot about Susperia! Good call!

2,000 Maniacs is actually on my Netflix Queue as a friend told me about it and couldn't believe I hadn't seen it.

I didn't mention Texas Chainsaw because I consider that a classic and an undeniable given.

Very underrated especially when in the video store years ago I was hesitant thinking it would be one of those "Oh my god is thing fucking over YET???" as you hit the FF button.....

I was shocked and recently watched it again....Forementioned video store went under and I snagged it for $1.00

There was an exceptionally odd movie directed by Jim Henson (of all people) called "The Cube", that appeared on network tv when I was a kid in the early seventies. This guy is stuck in (what else) a cube and can not escape. He receives several visitors saying odd things to him, then they simply walk out. He is left to figure out not only how he got there, but how to get out as well.

    Here is a clip.

I wonder if that is what actually sparked "Cube" because the plot is pretty much the same... just add a few more people, booby traps, blood, panic and limited time.....

what did you think about Chainsaw 2 and 3? Then, what did you think about the recent remakes? I think the remakes are spectacular.

I thought three was pretty awful but I love Chainsaw II.

"YOU BITCH! You broke my Sonny Bono wig!!!!"

    classic!

I DID like the remake of Chainsaw...seemed very off the original storyline, but at the same time "word for word" remakes rarely succeed...Psycho with Vince Vaughn was indeed a horror but not the way they were intending...just awful. So point being, I liked the new take on Chainsaw and especially because it was actually visable, the old one was so dark. I loved the new torture scenes in Leatherfaces' workshop! Regardless the old one undoubtably classic! Chainsaw 2 I vaguely remember. 3 was just called leatherface wasn't it? or was that a spinoff movie?

And before someone uses my "undoubtably" in the Word/phrases that need to be retired, or the Flipping the bird threads lets just say for the record that I pissed myself off knowing that it is "undoubtedly". Please don't embarrass me further. Thank you.

go back and watch the other two chainsaws...there's some good gore there...part three, which I think is called Leatherface or something like that, is pretty awful.
