    Default Anybody like Malmsteen?

    Just finishing this one up.

    99.8% done.

Bear in mind I cannot take pictures to save my life so the images do not capture the true colors of the guitar.

The guitar actually has the hardware of a 1972 Stratocaster. So my replica is more accurate then Fenders in that aspect!

No. I don't like Yngwie at all, other than to laugh at... he's a pretty funny dude, whether he tries to be or not...

But I do like your guitar, a lot! A little while ago I bought a 70's strat that I found in a pawn shop that actually looks as 'bad' as yours does. Very cool man.

    two things:

    1. As for anyone liking Malmsteen: I'm sure some do...hell, I'm sure many do. I think those people are crazy.

    2. does anyone have a guitar that became that dinged up naturally? If so, what the hell did they do to it?
    Stay out of it, dude.

It's like buying acid washed jeans with rips and tears in it a la Joe Elliott of Def Leppard.

I like early Yngwie J Malmsteen (so not to get him confused with all the other ones) and think you have a cool guitar there.

Geez dude, don't you know anything? It's because he shreds so "fahst". Paint flies off like that if you are as amazingly "fahhhst" as Yngwie J Malmsteen.

One of the most fun concerts I ever saw was Yngwie, on his first big tour, opening for AC/DC. Between Yngwie and Angus, every guitar lick ever invented got played that night.
Several times during Yngwie's set, he would stand on one side and hurl his guitar into the air across the stage--almost as high as the lighting rig--and run like mad across the stage and catch it on the other side. Other times he would just throw it straight up and catch it.
Needless to say, the guitar got a few dings just from that one show.

Nice guitar. How did you do the checked finish?

    Don't read this.

Cool guitar! I'd love to own a scalloped necked axe. The closest thing I have are a few early Jems where the last few frets are scalloped. The only criticism I have with that axe, and I could be wrong is that the "play loud" thing on there looks authentic but a little too clean as compared to how it is on Yngwie's axe. Looks great though! Grats.

I love Yngwie. I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I know he's a cheeseball of sorts and has made the same record how many times? but I dig his tone and playing. Pretty high level technique and hard to pull off well. Takes a lot of practice to do so. I love some of that neoclassical shred stuff. A lot of guys sound like robots and it feels soul less.
They sound like clones of eachother.
I think Yngwie is one that stands out, does it right/well with emotion. He's one of the first to have started with all that and at a pretty young age also. He's kinda a one trick pony and definitely overplays but in moderation I love it. I dig classical music a lot and I dig Yngwie's hybrid style.
Absolutely. A huge inspiration to me. But I like a lot of things. Prince and Rick James are inspirations too so there you have it.

As far as Yngwie's duck guitar being all banged up. I don't know if he still uses it but he used it from the 80's. Toured with it, tossed it up in the air and he's one of those players that practiced(maybe still does) for hours and hours every day. That's how it got beat up. I doubt any of the wear on Yngwie axe is poser relicing. Good job replicating it man.

Yep. Great job on the checking.

As far as Yngwie... I like him, incredible technique and phenomenal speed, but to be perfectly honest, I also get bored very quickly... after a few minutes it all begins to sound the same to me.
