    Default Aging or relicing a Pickguard

    Ok..on the franky, the pickguard is black is just roughed up...but anyone ever tried to relic or age a white pickguard?..i don't want to paint it as it will chip to easily. But there most be another way to acheive this.

    It most get yellow basicaly..but with a warm quality to it. pict is a bit over done, but you get the idea.

    Try coffee or brown shoe polish and wipe it off...

    That won't work unless you "de-gloss" the pickguard first . You can use "Soft Scrub" or any other mildly abrasive detergent to remove the clear coat.

    I tried both those and I couldn't get a desired result, so I just airbrushed the areas I wanted "yellowed" then clear coated it.

    I have either used ReRanch tinted clear (it bonds pretty well with pick guards, actually) or Rit clothing dye (mixing harvst yellow with a bit of brown).
    Dammit!!! I still smell like cotton candy!!!

    place it in a bag hanging above an ashtray full of burning smokes, the smoke fills the bag and the nicotine sticks to the pickguard.
    rough it up a little firts though.
