Joe's best solo on the album!

O.K. so by now, since most of us have had some time to really digest the album, which song does Joe have your favorite solo on? It's definitely tough to choose just one, but I think that right now at least, I might have to pick Get It Up, or while not a great shredder, Learning To Fall has great feeling as well. I narrowed it down to the songs I thought had the best solos in them, with the ever popular "Other" option available as well. If that's your choice, feel free to post which "other" song is your pick!

Alright, so of course I just realized that I forgot to put the "Other" option in the poll! So, I guess if you do have another choice, you'll just have to post it.

I really, really like the solo in Get It Up but I had to go with Future In the Past as my favorite. Just a great overall tune and the whole outro is what really makes it kick ass IMO.

Hell I like 'em all! It always works for each tune, perfect blend of flash and old skool rock. I still say it's the best Satch I've ever heard, his playing in this band just rules, grabs ya by the balls and throws you sideways!

I gave 'running out' the nod too ! I like them all, but this song is underrated let alone a smoking solo.

    Guess I'm an other chap.

I like "My kinda girl" and "Avenida revolution" - less wah wah (too many people using it) and more straight notes without bends. For whatever reason, I find most bends a bit corny these days, unless they start up and then release or if there is some kind of rhythmic aspect to it.

Maybe why I like Al Do Meola's playing so much.
A man could lose himself in a country like this.

Another quick shameless plug for Joe's back catalog...

Check out "Searching" from Joe's "Is there Love in Space?"

In a 7 minute jam, Joe gives you every trick EVH ever came up with, mixes it with Jimi's Machine Gun and adds a dash of Clapton's Crossroads. Then Satch spices the extended solos with tons of his own secret sauce.

Download that bad boy, cue it up and then wait for the Foot (and Satch) to come down on you live!

If we are limited to the current album, then I vote for the opening note to the Learning To Fall solo (I'm always a sucker for that relative minor mojo). Only need that first note -- it's that good.

And then the ride out to Future in the Past -- some good tasty Satch in there.

I'll tell you two others I could have easily included on this poll as well are the outros to both Soap On A Rope and Turnin' Left. Joe is on fucking fire with both of those. Of course the thing is you can't go wrong with any of the choices really. Joe really is a master, and to me, while I've always liked a lot of his solo stuff, he really excels on this album in a "real" band format. No question he's one of the best guitar players on the planet, and his attitude and personality seem to be a lot more like some other legendary guitar player we all once knew, which is such a nice thing, and the way it should be. It definitely gives me hope that this band could last, and boy do I hope it does.

"Soap on a Rope." I don't really like the song but I'll listen to that last 1:30 and it all clicks--love that booming bass in the vein of "Good Rockin' Tonight." The solo has got it all.
