Wow...they are funny and threatening at the same time! Great guitar solo...oh wait, there wasn't one.

What's really odd about this music is that if you had not seen the video, and perhaps only heard it on the radio, you would not be able to tell which one (out of thousands, it seems) of these bands you were listening to.

So, they copied the HFT video scene for scene, made it 10 times trashier, and sang a piece-of-crap song to it? Awesome. That's classy.

Edit: Oh, and 90% of their fan base (do they have a fan base?!?) will see the video and have no idea that it's not original. <insert head-in-hands emoticon here>

I think that they're trying to be all cool and ironical n shit about how they're so much cooler than hair bands, so they're doing a sendup of a hair band video. (Sort of like the way Nirvana did a spoof of an Ed Sullivan show)

The trouble is that HFT is a really classic video that everybody agrees is cool and funny. If they're trying to be all ironical, there are dozens of Warrant, Winger, Poison, and Britney Fox videos they could have spoofed that would have made the point better.

    Don't read this.

Great point of view. Problem is that spoofing a Warrant, Winger, Poison, or Britney Fox video would have also fallen flat because nobody can remember any of that gay shit! Hell, I'm sitting here thinking about it but for the life of me can't even recall a signature video from those clowns other than "Every Rose.."

They chose one of the most recognizable MTV videos ever, but like you said, in doing so they also chose one of the coolest videos ever by one of the coolest bands ever. That doesn't work either.

They could have gotten away with spoofing Just A Gigolo. Shit, that thing is practically a spoof on Roth by Roth.

Thing is, it would have been a parody of a parody. I doubt people of today would get the Billy Idol, MJ, Willie Nelson and Cindy Lauper references. But when you think about it, what semi iconic videos are there from today to make fun of anyway? Weird Al Yankovic's career has pretty much gone into the tank due to the lack of them.
