    Too sensitive?

A Falmouth elementary school teacher has apologized for participating in a mock wedding in which he was the groom and the bride was one of his students.

Paul Rosenblum, a fourth-grade teacher at Plummer-Motz School, agreed to take part after much cajoling from his class, according to a letter to parents from Principal Karen Boffa.

The girl's marriage proposal to her teacher had been much discussed by the class, and they felt it should result in a playground wedding, Boffa wrote in the letter dated June 29.

Boffa received five or six phone calls inquiring about the incident, enough to warrant an investigation by the principal, said Superintendent Barbara Powers.

    Mmm...no, I don't think so.

Teachers are professionals and need to keep their work that way.
She's a kid, he's a adult. I wouldn't like it if it were my daughter.

Fair enough. Can we all just move on? Nothing to see here.

    ditto...

Notice that non if his student's parents were concerned... Only those who had no one-on-one time with him as a teacher to their kids...

If I were a teacher these days, I'd be in jail faster than OLO locks threads. I see nothing inappropriate about this at all.

Indeed. Was wondering, aren't there some job fairs these people could be going to?

Talk about making mountains out of mole hills. The kids got the teacher to play along with a make believe wedding. Wow, now imagination and participation with students is being condemned.

Wasn't there a thread with a robot as a teacher? Maybe these people would be happier with that type of sterilized teaching.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.

Here's a better idea: Why not sterilize these people before they can procreate? There are apparently more than enough nitwits running amuck in the world.

It is stories like this that reaffirm that I made the right choice in not becoming a teacher.

That, in and of itself is a crying shame. More and more qualified people are refusing to enter the field each year, and the quality of education in this country continues to plummet as a direct result. If it isn't the miserable wages/absurd hours that turn people off, it's the hypocrisy of parents that expect the teacher to be a surrogate mom/dad, doctor/nurse and babysitter as well as an instructor, then make these same teacher's lives a living hell when a so called "incident" like this one occurs.

In my case, not really. I very little patience. Plus, I worked a summer at girl scout camp and I couldn't handle children as a full time job. I got hit, bit, kicked, and there wasn't a damn thing i could do about it.
