    From today's Doonesbury strip (June 28, 2009).

Must be true if its in Doonesbury.

With Berke Breathed and Opus in comic strip retirement, Doonesbury is the only comic strip left with an intellegent sense of humor.

..I like Doonesbury. Hell, I LOVED Doonesbury. I own the books.

But they're pretty much done, too. The Doonesbury characters, the community - all been done for quite a long darn while.

I was thinking the same thing, kettle meet pot.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I was just nodding in agreement on this, when I happened to click on the link for the Doonesbury site. Lo and behold, today's strip is Zonker Harris talking about Uncle Duke being captured in Tehran. And you can follow Roland Headly on Twitter...hilarious.
Does Gary Trudeau monitor this site?

"Look, I'll pay you for it, what the f**k?!"

"If I don't make her happy in the bedroom the wife gets bitchy for days at a time, but when I come to bed ready for action she laughs and laughs. She even laughs while I make my moves so I know I must be pleasing her as only I can do."

    Wow-
The FIRST Doonesbury I actually understand. Sorry, but this strip eludes me. I've never quite understood the ones I've seen...are they supposed to be funny?
Eddie must think I'm a BOZO to want to drop THAT much on one of his new Charvel Guitars!

Yes, they are supposed to be funny, IF you know the back-story. Plus the strips were often in 7-day "arcs", where the story built throughtout the week. So if you came in in the middle, it made no sense.
I used to LOVE Doonesbury, but I havent read it in years, and glancing through the archives online, I knew NONE of those people and it made zero sense to me too.
The comic, IMHO, jumped the shark when they stated making the original characters' children the focus of the strip. Kinda like the "Cosby Show" when they started bringing in the latest "cute kid of the month" after the original kids were grown and moved out of Chez Huxtable.
