Got that right. I tell you, it is mind boggling how popular rock music is in mainland Europe, especially Germany, Austria and Scandinavia. I meet middle aged business women all the time who tell me their favourite bands are Metallica, Guns n' Roses etc. It is the norm.

Chickenfoot have really done their homework and this Euro-tour, especially the festivals, is the best thing they could have done. The more I think about it, the more I think that Chickenfoot is going to be a platinum seller.

My buddies and I were just lamenting about the state of the rock audiences in the US. Everyone got old and tired and the instead of jumping up and down, they stand there and hold up a cell phone or camera.

I was just watching Iron Maiden's Flight 666 (awesome movie by the way). Rock and Metal is alive and well, just not here.

This is what happens when you have quality management. VH may as well make decisions using one of those Chickenfoot Magic 8 Balls...

Exactly. The whole cell phones bit is embarrassing to say the least. It reeks of "holidaymaker" - the kind of people who go to Rome and see the city through a viewfinder, forgetting that the experience is the point, not the record. You can't own it.

Here in Germany I would say the rock audience runs from kids right up through to the end. It really seems universal and, given the nature of rock music, it is quite refreshing to see people not going for the "I've got my car and champagne" bullshit.

Agreed on the Iron Maiden movie btw. I've never been a huge fan but that thing has inspired me to get some of their eighties releases. What a great bunch of lads they are.... no ego, just living a life worth living.

Yep, I got a laugh out of all of the idiots at the various shows trying to capture the entire concert on their little recording devices. I mean, WTF? I go there to have a good time and rock out. If I want a boot of the show, perhaps I'll be lucky enough to pick one up at a later date, but I'll not ruin my enjoyment of the show itself trying to document it through a viewfinder lens.

If you don't have any Iron Maiden albums, I would suggest Live After Death (live recording from the Power Slave Tour) as your first - it's a very good compilation of their stuff up to that point. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with any of the 80's releases but I would intially avoid their Debut (Iron Maiden) and Killers since it's with their original singer who can't hold a candle to Dickinson.
