Default Delay Pedal: In Loop or Up Front?

I did a search and couldn't find a specific thread for this, so here goes...

I recently picked up an MXR Carbon Copy delay and am running it on my board into the front of my Fender Prosonic with a Morley Tremonti Power Wah and a Fulltone OCD overdrive. See issues with that here:

    http://www.vhlinks.com/vbforums/full...88#post1157188

The chain is wah - OD - delay. The delay sounds great with the clean channel but once I switch to the crunch channel (without OD engaged) it becomes overpronounced.

Should I be running the delay in the loop to avoid this? I have a Rocktron Hush Super C and BBE Sonic Maximizer in the loop now.

Any suggestions are appreciated, as I know it's probably something I'm doing wrong and not the equipment. Thanks, fellas.

Yup... you should be able to find that happy balance with the delay in the loop. And put your modulation effects there also.

Yes i would put the delay in thye loop, but after the gate so it won't cut off any repeats.

Thanks for the tip. I'm actually about to try it in a few. The gate shouldn't effect the BBE though, correct? Or should I just put the gate before both, to be safe? I really appreciate the advice.

    Default That Did It!

As usual, you guys rule! It sounds great and may even be the reason that I wasn't digging the OCD so much. I can't wait for practice on Thursday night. Will report back after. Thanks.

Yep, I always run the delay in the loop unless I use a clean amp and then boost it with a distortion pedal.
