I wonder if this will be done tongue in cheek, like "Ocean's Eleven", with lots of inside gags, or if they are going for "The Wild Geese" which brought together a major cast of people at what you might call just past their action prime - Richard Burton, Richard Harris, Roger Moore, Hardy Kruger to name a few - and go down the epic route.

It should be called the "Past their Primes"

This movie would have been cool 15 years ago.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

When I saw that cast, I thought they were remaking Coccon.

this might end up being pretty cool...depends on what kind of tone the writing takes on.

I think Stone Cold Steve Austin is going to be in this too.

It's actually more appropriate that they are older. This will be the action movie of 2010.

How are all these old farts going to sneak up to the dictator using wheelchairs and walkers??

Actually this sounds pretty good. Might actually have to refi the house to see this one. Oh yeah, Stone Cold is listed as a cast member.

    Here's the IMDB link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1320253/

I think their age makes this MORE appealing...not just because of the specific actors involved but also for the dimension that it adds to the characters they are playing. This could turn out to be really good. I'll definitely be seeing it.

Excellent. A Wild Geese reference. First I've seen on the Links. Kudos. A classic flick, and the ending with Burton having to off Harris at the airstrip is just heart wrenching.

Actually, this Expendables could be really good...or really bad.

Hope Stallone wrote a half decent script.

Oh yes ... The Geese was one of my favourite movies growing up. A great script, some of the best actors in the business and, as you said, it had some pretty hefty emotional weight to it as well.

Plus some great one liners and speeches .....
