    From what I can gather from my conversations with Kyle;

    The brownbomb is more of a hot paf'ish pickup(9.2), and the War'ed is the pickup that was modeled to the EVH Frankenstein pickup with is about 14.5k.

    If you have a heavy wood,
    try a Dimarzio Tone Zone.
    A lighter wood, try a SH 14 Custom 5.
    Not too much cabbage for the tone.
    If you have cabbage to spend, slip me a PM.

    Both the Brown Bomb and the WarEd are great pups for VH tone. You just have to have them in the correct setup. I was very specific when we designed these for early and later guitars Ed used.

    Kyle was able to send me a sound byte of the WarEd when I inquired about it.

    Ed's Frankenstien PAF measured "0".
    I have a whole parts bin full of them.
    They're kinda pricey, but if you're interested ... shoot me a PM!

    the pickup that i want in the guitar needs to sound like a hot paf type pickup, examples such as sd78, brown bomb, screamin demon, etc. im partial to >10k pickups, because i feel they may lose the dynamics of a PAF (that includes the evh and wared pickups. not saying they're bad though) im thinking about a screamin demon type sound with a little more bass and mids and without the allen screws or seymour duncan logo (im very picky )

    Check out Bareknuckles pickups. The VH II. I have it in my 5150 and it rocks. A little pricy compared to US, but I believe it is well worth it.
    Listen to the soundbyte by Steve Stevens... ROCKS!!!!!

    +1 It is... I've just come home from a 5 hour rehearsal with my friend's band (I'm filling in on guitar for a show). They play thrash and stuff, not really my thing, but oh well. Anyway, I was running a guitar with a GFS VEH into my 5150 head the entire time, and the thing is so versatile, I didn't sound out of place with them at all. I can also get some sweet early EVH tone out of the thing. It's not a perfect EVH early tone pickup, but it is great overall -- and I think it kinda fits your EVH/Lynch needs.
