Default Who Makes the best Frankenstein/Frankenstrat?

This is Derek and I play in a VH tribute band called FAN HALEN (www.fanhalen.net) and I was recently offered a Fender EVH Frankenstrat for $9k. I actually strongly considered it and began rationalizing in my mind why I should get it and that it was worth the price and that it's an investment, and besides I play in VH tribute and how cool would it be to have etc. etc.

Well, I ended up passing on the deal and thought to myself, why should I spend $9k for an exact replica when I bet I could get one exactly like it at a fraction of the price, which leads me to this post...who's the best at building a Frankenstein? I'm looking to have one built that is an absolute dead-on replica. Who makes one where if it was right next to the EVH version you could NEVER tell the difference? Who do you recommend?

FAN HALEN is performing at this year's Rocklahoma and I need to have it before this show, which is July 9th.

    I appreciate your help!

btw, I have two already, one that's pretty damn close but doesn't play perfectly...

And another, which is a GMW, that plays perfect but is not as close as a "replica"...

I'm looking for the perfect match...one that looks exact and plays AWESOME!

    Please email me at vhtribute@hotmail.com

Thank you again for any help you can provide!

9k is a steal on the New Frankenstrat. I have a Brand New Frank in the Box for 17000 and thats not making much of a profit. Im with you though....have one built. There isnt any guitar worth that kind of a price tag. Im also interested in having one built.....be sure to share the info!

For 9k, I'd nail it. At the very least, I'd dissect every inch of that guitar to find out whatever secrets are in there, and then I could still sell it, maybe for even more than 9k.

Based on an economic perspective, yes, having someone making you one is cheaper. But be carefull with who you ask to deliver the goods (mostly the painting issue). I've senn some pretty ugly (wrong, inaccurate) replicas out there, including on this forum!

Ordering is easy... and quick... it's waiting for them that's hard. Still, some dudes out there have stock parts.

Of course, stock parts should be correct, accurate... just like the painting.

I just cant believe Fender actually built & sold those frankies for almost 30k, insane! Anyone remember Rol's Guitars? I'm in NYC and we have our studio in The Music Building on 38th & 8th, use to be a band called Shirley Temple Of Doom & the lead guitar player had one, that baby was awesome & i think it was @ $700.00, THAT's a fair price for a guitar that was under 300.00 for Ed to build way back when.....

The body and neck cost Ed $180... in 1976!!!! How much is that, on current day currency? Besides, let's add the paint, the tuners, the pickup, the whole hardware! Convert that to modern currency and you'll probably end up with something not far from 1000...

As far as Rol's guitars... I've never seen his work. Just one guitar (5150) that (allegedly) he painted...
