Default My assessment of the Warmoth KWS Kramer neck

Yes, the peghead ain't right, the contour ain't right, and there's no skunk stripe. I hate that the largest fret size you can get from them these days is 6100 (I like 6000's the best). If you buy this neck, just know that it won't be right for a Frankie or 5150 replica. Mine is a Fender modern C shape with a maple on maple board. Trussrod adjustment is at the heel. But in all, it's a quality neck for $135, and worth not too much more in my blunt opinion. I am almost thinking of doing a Wolfie shaped body with vintage tuners, vintage trem, and a bone nut. That would be on the 100% interesting list, wouldn't it. Or, it would be a EBMM Axis w/ vintage trem...
Dammit!!! I still smell like cotton candy!!!

An Axis with a vintage trem is just an Axis Supersport

But you don't see Wolfgangs like that, so do the wolfie.

If I recall, it has something to do with 'Wolf' in the name, but the actual shape is basically an exact copy of an Axis -- but uglier. It almost looks like a deformed axis, unless the pics I've seen were just at really bad angles...

+1 ... and don't forget the HUGE kidney bean control cavity.

Seriously ... these designs are all a matter personal preference.
If the designs appeal to you, then that's really all that matters.

I do hate, hate, HATE the kidneybean control cavities; however, this is a very cool body with figured wood front AND back. I like the shape, myself, but I love the general shape of the Wolf and Axis...

Ya, the cavity sucks. And I also love the shape of the REAL Wolf and REAL Axis/EVH. However, the Warmoth body hasn't ever looked like an accurate copy to me in ANY pics I have seen of it. It always looks wrong. Make sure you get a good look at it straight on before you order it

They don't make this body anymore-Warmoth got a C&D from someone. I got it quite awhile back. I like it okay- it isn't the greatest, but I like it alright. The figure on this body is pretty amazing. Pics to come later...

Cool, I'd like to see it. By the way, your black Wolfgang body you sold me is in the process of being restored to factory spec's. I can't find a neck anywhere though....

I have a Warmoth VW body that's part of in-progress project (and has been for a while--wet sanding sucks). I compared the shape to my Axis and it was almost completely identical. The details are where they're different--control route, neck bolt pattern, etc.

I personally don't mind the Warmoth control route. What sucks is it's really the only one they'll do. Obviously there's a lot of players and builders that would like options.

Thanks AT, that is good to know the shape is the same. That trans black looks very similar to what a guitar I'm building is going to look like. Sweet project!

Have you thought about contacting Scott Fletcher?

I did this as an oil and wax finish. The laccquer frustrated me too much, so I just did an oil and wax on it. I like this direction in finishes, as I like the way it looks, feels and sounds.

It had a recessed Floyd, and I decided it needs to be filled. Buying a new car yesterday nailed home the fact that I can't buy another Floyd, but I am itching to finish this guitar. I think I finally have the sister to Jamie, even though the neck will be decidedly different, and it's an all-maple Warmoth.

Opinions needed: I have a Wolfgang bridge and a DiMarzio Tone Zone lying around- what would you put in an all-maple body?
Dammit!!! I still smell like cotton candy!!!

I think Scott will be the ONLY bet for an EBMM body with the correct cavity routes.
