    Default Neck Trimming

Has anyone ever used just sandpaper to make a neck thinner? The necks I bought through Musikraft, I like them, but I would like them to not feel as thick. Can you sand up and down the neck to thin it out some? Not the width, just the thickness. I figure the birdseye is "in the wood" so it wouldnt hurt the appearance too. Thanks for any input or techniques.

Yep. The mighty mite necks I buy are nice and solid, but have a pretty standard profile, so I sand them into asymetrical profile necks. I don't thin them much (just remove some mass on the lower side), but you can take a bit of mass off the back to make your neck thinner without hurting anything. The truss rod *shouldn't* be so close to the outer wall of the back of the neck that taking a few mm's of would make it pop through.
