Default What's the deal with this?

One of the most innaccurate VH1 paintjobs I've ever seen on an "authorized" EVH replica.

    Were they really this bad?

Are the Art Series supposed to be exact replicas?

It doesn't have to be "exact" to be a good replica, but I personally feel that replicas regarded as "authorized" should at least show some consistancy.

That paintjob is the worst I've ever seen on an Art Series.
I actually had to take a second look to make sure it wasn't one of those concert series guitars.

Is it even a real one? Probably is, but I'm skeptical of people that won't show the headstock and use HUGE TEXT IN CAPS.

The placement is all wrong and no "ripped" tape on the lower bout.
Not very "correct" IMO and definately not consistant with the later models produced.

I love the B/W paint scheme ... it's probably my favorite.
I just hate the fact that a company "authorized" to manufacture these replicas are doing such a poor job.

I thought the idea behind these guitars was for each one to kind of be unique and not a copy of the originals?

Maybe you're thinking of the EvH Charvels made back in the 80's.
Or maybe the Concert Series Charvels?

Yeah, probably is the Concert Series variety that I had it confused with.

Our local Long & Mcquade Music had a bunch of the ART series when they first came out. Very few sold due to the huge price tags. They had a couple bumble bee's, the 5150'ish ones, as the red, white and black frankie style, but what cought my eye, was they had several black & whites. They were all quite different from guitar to guitar, but the black and whites seemed to be the most "creative". The patterns were all different, and on the three, there's a small area on the thin vertical stripe, that had either an upside down "V" or a "O" tacked to the end of the stripe. Weird Anyway, I recall Ed saying in the initial release that there would be intentional differences from instrument to instrument, but to me they just looked inconsistent ,but i guess that's where the "ART" tag comes to play. Yep....They all looked like that.
She looks so $#@!'n good ,so sexy and so frail....Somethin's got the bite on me, I'm goin' straight to Hell.

You'd think so, but I'm sure it's the real deal. I've seen quite a few, and they are axactly like this in build/finish quality. I thought they were nothing more than a cash in money grab anyway. One guy I knew bought one for the collectibility factor, but still wanted a player, but was so remorseful with himself for blowing over two grand on such a limited instrument he took it back within three days. I mean it was an ok guitar, but honestly, I read reviews where the MusicYo "1984" Kramer actually blew this thing out of the water sound and playability wise. I thought about it, but I'd probably end up doing the same thing. I've got "Eddified" guitars that come closer than these things. Their just a San D body and neck with a stripe job, and a decent clear. No big thang!

That's a "cover your ass" statement if I ever heard one.
And unfortunately those "intentional differences" also included inconsistancies in sound, tone, and setup(s) as well.

I've had quite a few pass through my shop.
