    Default EVHs original Frankenstein guitar?what wood?

    does anyone know for sure what wood EVH frankenstein was?i know they made the replicas of swamp ash and most people seem to think his original was northern ash.just curious what you guys thought?

    Northern ash was all the rage in that period. That was the phase where everyone was thinking the heavier the wood, the better. I've mentioned it before, but years ago I worked in a music shop, and Fender was using northern ash on their Strats. Those Fenders were the heaviest guitars I've ever played. We did'nt sell too many for that reason, and also that they were three bolt Micro Tilt necks. They did sound good though.

    I sold a Northern Ash axe to a dude in Michigan.
    He was in a motorcycle wreck a while before and wiped out his shoulder.
    He had to sell it cause it was too heavy and he couldn't play it a whole set without it killin em.
    The fucker was over 10 pounds though.

    Yeah man! 10 pounds doesn't sound like a lot but it can get real heavy after 40 minutes or so.
