I got a black PING for a guitar Im building right now.
    Wanted to check em out.
    With these, time will tell.
Have to see if quality materials are used.
Have to see if the edges wear out, ect.
So far, the only thing I dont like is that the name is stamped on and not etched.
    Brass block is nice though.
Friom what I understand. The aftermarket, monster, brass blocks dont fit.

Any musicians near Boston / Cape Cod want to get together and play some VH? I play drums, guitar, keyboard, bass, and I sing. I want to start a VH tribute band. Contact me if interested.

Guitar Fetish just started carrying these: http://store.guitarfetish.com/nehedudulofl.html. They're the same licensed Floyd that was used on the Peavey Wolfgang, only the brass block isn't quite as long (the Wolfgang was 42mm, this one is 31mm). I've bought several of these either new or used off eBay and have been very happy with them--even like them better than the Gotoh. I'm 99% certain these are manufactured by Ping.

SWEEEET. Glad you posted that... the only thing I don't like is the trem bar. I wish it had the original collar thing instead of the screw in one... oh well. We'll see how much I mind the Peavey style one once my parts Wolf special is done.

The Guitar Parts Depot Floyd Special deal is great. Can't go wrong. I will say this. Definately go with the Floyds mentioned here.
Alot of companies are offering Floyds. i see Mighty Mite also has some. The main thing to be sure of is you get a forged model. Alot of these cheaper models on the market are cast. It's very easy to tell the dfference. Forged "original" design models are smooth and have a thin profile on the base metal. Cast models are usually a 1/16" or so thicker in the base plate, and usually have replaceable knife edges. The two main reasons why I suggest forged over cast is number one...Sound. Forged models just transfer sound more efficiently. Combine this with a brass block, and you've got a great sounding unit. Secondly and equally important is that cast models simply arent as reliable. Years ago I got in a deal with a well known manufacturer for their "new Floyd" liscenced bridge. It was a nice looking piece of equipment. At first, stayed in tune well, and was finished quite nicely.
As time went on, and string changes and intonation adjusments stacked up flaws started to show. First of all, the baseplate itself was warping slightly. (treble side was higher than the bass side) Also the screw holes for the intonation adjusment allen cap head screws started stripping out thus causing slippage of the saddles during trem use, and even worse simply bending the strings. This happened with six units, one after another.
The reason was the casting.(poor casting has very small bubbles throughout causing weakness) It simply did not have sufficient strength to stand up to regular use. They eventually changed the casting process, but basically all this did was extend the usefullness a little longer. I'm not excessivley hard on my gear. That was the worst part of this ordeal. I'm sure there are some casted models which are way more reliable than the ones I dealt with, but where these models do suffer across the board is in the intonation screw holes. If you're a casual player, then these units may be fine, and their price can be very appealing, but if you make your living with your instrument then spend a couple extra bucks and get a Gotoh. They've got a great design. The finetuners are angled back out of the way too. I find them very comfortable. Good luck.
She looks so $#@!'n good ,so sexy and so frail....Somethin's got the bite on me, I'm goin' straight to Hell.
