    Default More secretive than Ed?

Can you name a musician who is more secretive about his current/recent/modern music projects than EVH? I can't think of any offhand. Why can't the dude give us a few rough mp3's? He knows we all love him and his work...
Any musicians near Boston / Cape Cod want to get together and play some VH? I play drums, guitar, keyboard, bass, and I sing. I want to start a VH tribute band. Contact me if interested.

Eddie is simply a very private person. When Van Halen was a regular, full-time operation he did more interviews and press in conjunction. I'm like every VH fan in that I wish we could hear more of what's been done (a suggestion of hope for an eventual all-encompassing boxed set), but the guy likes keeping things from the farm within the family. Whatta ya gonna do?

There may be a difference between being secretive and simply not doing anything related to public product offerings.

It's all part of the drama. It's all about the buzz that creates the frenzie and drives the fans nuts. All the bands do it, but VH does it to the highest level.

Look at the recent Chickenfoot dribbles of information. The media campaign began in Feb, the songs were released in March, the fan club info and tour dates in April...It's all to string you along until people are hyped up and frustrated at the same time.

VH doesn't dribble...They get ready and put it all out there.

I know this isn't a popular idea around here, but many of you are working under the assumption that Ed is actually working on something.

I don't believe Ed is being secretive at all. I believe he isn't working on anything. Sure he is probably jamming with Al and Wolfie, and maybe even putting some of his noodlings on tape.

But an actual project? I don't think he has done that since 2004.

Unless you count the porn, which I guess is a project, so I just corrected myself.

How about I don't think he is working on any project of substance within the moniker of Van Halen?
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Steve Perry. The guy is very clandestine about his recording activities. So much so in fact, the last time he released something, even he didn't know it.

I've actually read the opposite. Ed had nothing but bad things to say about Blackmore and Joe Perry, he pretty much called them assholes and from what I've heard he's correct. Had something to do with him trying to introduce himself in the early days and them turning their nose up at him and refusing to shake his hand.

    Exactly.

But, the last two tours, Van Halen did almost ZERO promotion.
Other than that initial announcement "press conference" with Dave for the last tour, nothing. They didn't do anything for the 2004 tour with Sammy.

In the past, they'd do magazine interviews, radio, MTV, etc, everytime they toured or released an album. Hell, they even did all that for VH3 wth Gary.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -
