Default Cruise, Travolta to team-up for ‘Butch Cassidy’ remake

    London, April 5 :
Tom Cruise is planning a remake of the classic 1969 `Western Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid', starring himself and close pal John Travolta.

An associate has revealed that Cruise got the blessing of Paul Newman just months before the actor died of lung cancer last September.

Cruise, 46, wants to cast himself as Sundance, played by Robert Redford in the original, while Travolta, 55, will follow in Newman's footsteps as Cassidy.

The film about two lovable Wild West bank robbers charmed a generation and garnered four Oscars.

Cruise intends to produce the remake through United Artists, the "golden era" studio he jointly owns after helping resurrect it as an MGM subsidiary in 2006.

A senior executive said that Cruise is in talks with screenwriters capable of recapturing the essence of the original.

"It has been a pet project of his that has been on the back-burner for years. But now he's ready to go, and will most likely happily eschew the enormous salary that he normally commands," the Daily Express quoted the executive as saying.

A source said: "Butch and Sundance is a labour of love for Tom. He was eight years old when he saw the original and it made an impression that has stayed with him all his life. He can't wait to get to work."

These two nitwits remaking Brokeback Mountain? By all means. Butch and Sundance? No way in hell. At least Newman didn't have to live to see it.

We learned last week with the announcement that the 3 Stooges was being remade that NOTHING is sacred. Nothing will ever be more lame and pointless than trying to redo the Stooges.

In fact, this makes that South Park episode even more funny.

This is the best idea I've heard since someone decided to make a sequel to Newman/Redford's The Sting, only this time with Jackie Gleason and this guy:

Produced and funded by the Church of Scientology, of course.

I would hope someone, somewhere would put their foot down to stop this masquerade.

I will not be going to see that unless I get a free ticket.

Can anyone out there come up with an original idea? If he wants to do a cowboy flick with his friend, more power to him, but come up with an original idea. There have only maybe been 100,000 western genre novels that have been written that can be converted to a movie or used as inspiration for.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

Are you sure this isnt a late April Fools joke?
EVH 1979: Well, actually it's not much of a vacation, because we run everything ourselves. We design our own album cover, we have to be in the office every day to sign checks - the whole corporation revolves around us. Nothing can be done without our approval. We even have photo approval.
