    Default Unreleased CVH Tunes

Two of my all time favs. Some parts/bits ended up in other tunes but I dig it.

Feel free to post more CVH unreleased inks.

How long until some band steals these songs?
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

No More Waiting...I think that is off of the Magic Mountain 1977 boot, which was a concert they did after getting signed but before VHI was released.

Damn Dave had a banshee wail back then.

I always liked Get The Show On the Road, thought they should have released it.

Damn if Bullethead doesn't rock. Which they had put that on one of their demos, all I have ever heard is live versions of it.

    Same with Down in Flames.

    Good stuff.

One thing that I have always noticed about these club days clips is that Ed's tone is not very similar to his tone on VHI.

Have always wondered how much Ted Templeman helped create Ed's brown sound.

I always loved No More Waiting and Get the Show..

I don't know what boot they first appeared on. I remember a friend having them on LP and I recorded them onto cassette and had them in my car forever. That was in the 80's. I felt like I had a new VH album. lol I have since bought all this stuff+ on boot Cd's but it's cool imo to put them all in a thread like this since they are currently on Youtube. A few of those I haven't heard at all. I also dig seeing all the old footage added though it's a little of an awkward fit. lol

I agree about Dave's scream. Same with Mike! Now in many ways Mike still sounds exactly the same but there are some yelps he could do at that tender age that is unreal. He's like a hair short of a dog whistle in a few of those. lol

Actually, Mike's scream is annoying at times. He sings good harmony, but the scream/yelp..... It's like, shut up dude....

hehe I'm sure it's something that sounded/seemed better live with a few drinks in you and them right infront of you blasting in a smaller club. It's easier to scrutinize it decades later hearing it on a faded boot. I understand what you're saying. I kinda get that vibe from his voice in the Beer drinkers song but many would likely disagree with that.

    Default I LOVE CLUB DAYS

    Some of my favorites are:

She's The Woman (fun to play on guitar)

    Woman in Love

Down In Flames (although there is a better live version than the one in this thread)

Also I want to give a shout out to Mikey for having a cool bass tone back in those days!
Any musicians near Boston / Cape Cod want to get together and play some VH? I play drums, guitar, keyboard, bass, and I sing. I want to start a VH tribute band. Contact me if interested.

In all these boots and old live recordings I don't think I've ever heard Ed wander on a solo and hit a true misplaced bad note. Brain farts, weak theory scale knowledge at a tender age...no mistakes? eh? lol

I agree, I never liked it when he did that scream at the beginning of ATBL.

Man that was great listening. Been awhile since I have heard some of them. Get The Show has a great rhythm but I must say I like Romeo Delight better so I can live with it not being on an album.

Agree with Mike's voice. On some songs its just too much but you can't be critical of the guy here so lets just say my ears are screwed up.

Ed's playing on Down in Flames is killer.
