    Default 5150..the next logical step.....

Well...after a Franky, the next logical step is a 5150..so here is where i am right now, completely forgot to take picts when i was painting it...but here's the front and back so far.

I've done the relicing on the back, next..the front.

I'm on CL almost every day looking for a Hohner G-3T. It has the R Trem, and the H-S-S pickup setup, are the same dimension and size but are made of rock maple as opposed to the Steinberger Blend Carbon, and sounds pretty good. They had a previous model that had the dual humbuckers too, but their few and far in between. I think it will look bitchin' striped up. We used to have one at my old guitar shop, and I used to jam on it all the time. Kind of cool to play.

    Not to high-jack this thread...

I'm getting a 5150 kit but have a dilema...what hard/soft case is going fit the headstock?

Anyone with prior experience care to share what product you got?

    Thanks

I posted a question a few weeks back if anyone knew of someone that builds 5150 kits and Kyle(divebombInc) told me he could hook it up and just from his positive reputation around here I pulled the trigger. Its got about a week and half left till he ships it to me and then I've got to paint it and assemble etc, but by the end of April should be ready to rock and roll...

I've studied the Kramer 5150 a ton -- probably more than the frankie. That relicing work looks really good so far man.

I don't mean this as a criticism at all, but just make sure you get the worn off look too. Especially on the front. You can use a buffing wheel or dremel buffing pad and just use like your not supposed to -- push really hard, don't use polish, and let the pad heat up and almost start burning. It gives the really nice and unique look like the real deal has where the red is simply worn right off, and fades into white.

Great job! I've always liked the "ate up" back of the 5150.

Whatever you are doing to relic, it looks good. I'd do probably about the same thing for 90% of that guitar. The buffing wheel method is only something I use at the end to fade and blend the little sections of red in the areas where it is not just chipped, but worn off.

I've got a bunch of pictures -- when I get home today I'll look through my archive and post the biggest and clearest ones. Do you have the nobozos pics that were posted here a little while ago? The ones taken very recently, and very close up?

    What photos are you using?

The 5150 has been my favorite EVH guitar since 1986 and i have many photos ive collected over the years.

Maybe i have some that can help?
