Default Gonna try the GF VEH neck pickup

I am putting it in Jamie. Jamie has a Duncan custom custom in the bridge.

Routing the selector switch cavity was interesting. I have also discovered that I may have to have my luthier drill the hole connecting the cavities, unless I can find the drill bit that allows me to do so.

A review of the VEH neck pup will have to wait. ANy comments from those who use the VEH neck pup?
Dammit!!! I still smell like cotton candy!!!

Congratulations, it a great p/u! I love it!

And there's plenty of commentary regarding the pick up right here...

You can get one of those long drill bits at Lowes in various useful thicknesses. My local Home Depot doesn't have them though... but it is one of the smaller stores.

Let me warn you though, aiming a drill bit that long is FREAKING HARD! Especially the first time. You can very easily start out on a good path, and end up having it come out an inch shy of say the humbucker route, and right through the face of the guitar! As with everything, just measure a lot and be careful -- you'll be able to pull it off.

Coincidentally, I was gonna head out to hardware store this weekend to pick up a couple super-long drill bits for the very use being discussed here.

I like the VEH neck pup a lot. I thought it complemented the bridge VEH well, and the two sound good together in the middle position.

Aside from the previously posted link, I can say that I actually like the VEH neck pickup better than the bridge version. It's very hot. I actually had to lower the neck pickup away from the strings quite a bit to get a good balance between the two. I'm sure you will be happy.

Gonna try the extra long drill bit- it's not like it's on a '58 burst, right?

You'll be fine. Just make sure when you hit different sections with different grains you are still on the right track.

I only had to extend the cover route a teeny bit. I made certain that I would onlyhave to cover it up from the rear if it were necessary.
