i see USA wolfgang specials with solid colours go, depending on condition, anywhere from 600-900 bucks here in Houston.

my understanding is that the regular one has the arch top and the special does not. Andrew knows much more than I on this but I think that is the case. Same pick ups, same neck, same floyd, d-tuna etc...one has the maple cap and the other is just basswood.

    Just a few other diff's:

The standards have a birdseye neck & a tone knob in addition to the arch top.

USA specials will have either a quilt top(produced only one year?) a flame top or be solid color(solid basswood-no maple).

The Korean EXP's have a very thin veneer of flame as opposed to a 1/4" maple cap.

The EXP's DO NOT have Ed's sig branded on the back of the head stock. All the others do.

I'm sure AT will straighten out anything lost or forgotten to this point & I certainly defer to his Jedi Kung-Fu Master status as total hook-up on all things Peavey Wolfgang.

As for value, I sold my '02 Purple flame special last month for $660. Somebody got a steal on a great guitar.

I know a number of them with rosewood boards were sold as regular Wolfgangs, but that color looks like a custom shop. As already mentioned, Andrew should know!

It's Tone Zone. Not correcting you, just letting you know in case you want to research the pickup. Andrew/Andrew Thomas/AT is our resident Wolfgang expert and is usually browsing around here somewhere. He knows more about Wolfgangs than Hartley Peavey and could probably answer all of your questions.

If you like rosewood, buy it. They did not make many in rosewood. I would not doubt if 5 % of all production was rosewood. Custom shop or not the rosewood is not only a great player, but will be a niche investment for sure.Down the road in 10 15 years finding one for sale will be like finding a needle in a hay stack. That one in the picture is a custom shop unless it was refinished. Also depends on what he wants for it too !

I read somewhere there very few rosewood..and that to avoid Eddie's desicion to NOT release them, they called them Custom Shops..but were actually normal ones..wich ever model it was..and just add the rosewood neck.

But i still don't know WHAT exact model it is...and what it would be worth.
