    Default Sammy and New Montrose?

A while back sammy recorded a song, and just one song, with montrose for an upcoming Montrose CD. Does anyone know the status of that. Has Ronnie Montrose Gone Awol or canceled the CD entirely?

I was really looking forward to hearing it, all this chickenfoot stuff reminded me of it.

Complications arose, simple as that. No bad blood between Sammy or Ronnie or anyone else involved, but it's nothing I can speak of at this time.

It was an album called "10 x 10" and it was supposed to have different singers on every song. Sammy, Paul Stanley and Billy Idol were names mentioned. I was really looking forward to it.

Not sure if it was posted here, but I think there were problems with finding a label for it, and Ronnie didn't want to go the indie route.

That could be total BS and I am only posting it for conversation sake. Not trying to get in slinging match, it is just what I remember reading.

I too was excited for it, I wish Ronnie would do more, he is too talented to be sitting on his hands.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

That's a shame. I would think some label would want to pick it up, maybe not a major one, but even Sam's CD's get pretty big labels (IE ROADRUNNER) to get the CD out. Maybe Warner won't release it like the old montrose, but this CD needs to see the light of day. It sounds really good and filled with tons of talent.

Sorta along these lines, but still sorta off topic- Whatever happened to Sammy's record label? I think it was called Cabo Wabo Records or something like that?

That would be a good way to get Montrose and Chickenfoot music out the door. (I have no idea who is publishing Chickenfoot.)

They're shopping for a label deal right now. They financed the record themselves.

Man! The whole label thing is a discussion forum in itself these days. Truth is the big labels burned so many bridges with established artists over the past decade and a half in favor of the one hit wonder cheese that reigns. A friend of mine sent me an excerpt from a book he's been reading about the boy band thing, and the whole prefabricated "music" scene.
It was shocking how quick record execs started jumping on board when sheisters like Lou Perlman started pitching their business models. For instance the average "boy band" life span was predicted to be approx. 4.5 years, therefore the contract need not exceed 3 years. The remaining year and a half would see a last minute marketing blitz of toys and clothing followed by a major tour. The money would roll in, and no messy contract negotiations to deal with, as the guys aged they lost the appeal of the niche market of prepubescent girls.....but no fear, the next "band" was already in "bootcamp like training" for their run at the big time. Essentially the same gig for rap, but where all make their money in this case is largely product placement in videos. The "music" business is hurting big these days....At least in the eyes of a musician. I'll try to dig up that chapter in the book. It was sickening. Nothing but pure greed. Kinda makes Enron look like missionaries.
She looks so $#@!'n good ,so sexy and so frail....Somethin's got the bite on me, I'm goin' straight to Hell.

From what little I know about the record biz, it seems the best way for an artist to do business is to own the masters, contract to a record company for them to press, promote and distribute their product. Give them a one album deal and if the record company doesn't perform, move on to another company. The Rolling Stones do something similar with their entire catalog.
