    Default Dremel Shot Craps :^(

Yes, indeedy- The same tool that has served me for ten years finally is 100% dead. I thought that maybe it was brushes, but loading in a new set of brushes proved useless to revive the ol' trusty Dremel.

This thing provided many, many hours of entertainment and utilitarian uses, including the following:

    1) Cleaning off stuck-on residue on my stainless steel pots and pans

    2) Helping machine carbon fibre prototypes and one-off jobs in the following fields- cycling, motorcycles, and motorsport

    3) Routing for humbuckers in non-humbucker-routed guitar bodies

    4) Routing binding channels

    5) Extending and enlarging, as well as making new control cavities in guitars

    6) Polishing the bracelet links on my collection of Tag Heuer and Rolex watches

I will give this thing a proper funeral after harvesting such parts as the collets, not-so-used-up (and two brand-new) sets of brushes, as well as the router base and the tool bits.

I had mistakenly thought this thing would last forever. Oh, well.

Long Live my old Dremel!!! May she rest in peace!!! Garage luthier wannabes shall worship at the altar of Dremel!!!!
Dammit!!! I still smell like cotton candy!!!

    RIP... haha.

Actually, I know what you mean man. I have this router bit that I abused SO much.... I mean, it went through metal, hardwood, guitar wood, and the infamous Alder guitar I made for a client (worst wood of all time to work with). Once I realised it was no longer cutting, but merely starting fires, I took it out and looked at it and have saved it since. It is all burnt up, there are actually NO blades left on it, and I think the 'hardened steel' may have even deformed! And I usually take care of my tools....

I usually get new bits every 2 or 3 bodies now. Keeps everything cutting sharp.

    Two words:

    Roto-Zip

Wait, that's one word isn't it? Is it a one hyphenated word, or two words?
    No, it's two words, but........no, it's one word.........I don't know.

    Anyway, works good.

Godammit Ron! I'm guessing your manliness never comes into question!
Outstanding. That's all I can say. Truth be told I did a similar thing. When I crashed my Ducati, I broke several of my front teeth. The bottom ones were so jagged they were cutting the tip of my tounge, and I could not get into a dentist right away, so when I got home from the hospital, I slammed back some Jimmy Beam (yeah it fuck'n hurt) grabbed my wife's emory file and went to town. At the time I was desparate, but when I think back of the sensation doing so, I get a chill up my spine. Good on ya though! I never thought to use my Dremel. Woulda been quicker.
She looks so $#@!'n good ,so sexy and so frail....Somethin's got the bite on me, I'm goin' straight to Hell.

I got my router base at Hope Depot, but Stew Mac makes a much, much nicer one made of aluminium. Same places have the bits- Stew Mac has some pretty specialised bits for luthierie.
