...The band will be hoping to replicate the success of other reformed or reborn acts in recent years.

Take That, a former boy band which lost its biggest star in Robbie Williams, has had sellout concerts and chart-topping singles and albums since reforming.

The Police embarked on a world tour in 2007 and 2008 that grossed more than $350 million.

Van Halen folded back into itself as expected, but seems to remain active... in nothing yet.

And "King of pop" Michael Jackson sold out a run of 50 concerts in London starting in July, and has discussed a three-and-a-half-year plan which promoters say could be worth up to $400 million to the singer.

Ahhh. Lead singer Tony Hadley didn't get the solo career he wanted and brothers Martin and Gary Kemp never became the thespians they had a right to be.

Spandau Ballet was the my first professional interview in a nationwide magazine. Boy, did I mess up royally. Tony Hadley was so gracious, though, and remained a friend until the band broke up. (all right, all right, I'll queue Barbra now...)

I am not saying this to be a smart ass, who in the hell is Spandau Ballet?

I mean, have I ever heard anything by them and not known it was them.

Really have never heard of them, so I guess I am off to Google!
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

And here I was all this time I thought "True" was Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry! Didn't he have a hit with a similar type of song around that time?

It's the other way around. All of those "New Romantic" bands (Duran, Spandau, ABC, Adam and the Ants to name a few) were simply using Roxy Music as a template. It also helped that Roxy had put out Avalon the year before "True" was released.

Well, I know Roxy came first, but seems to me Bryan Ferry (or Roxy Music) had a pretty big song at that time, that I thought was "True", but obviously wasn't, so what was it?

Roxy had "More Than This", as well as the title track from Avalon. Both tunes convey the same sort of romantic melancholy as "True".

    TRUE to life

Avalon (the album) got quite a bit of airplay in the Cleveland area when it was released.

I recall it was a great make-out album too. It must have been... I have it on LP,cassette and CD twice.
