Default Expensive tickets! Should I go?

OK, so this is how my June is looking so far:

12th-14th: Download Festival with Def Leppard, Whitesnake, ZZ Top, Journey, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Motley Crue, Opeth, Down, Chris Cornell, Dream Theater, Buckcherry, Lacuna Coil, Tesla, Duff McKagan's Loaded, Dir en Grey, Black Stone Cherry, Steadlur and tons of other bands

26th: AC/DC with The Answer and most likely some other awesome support

Download's cost me 170, plus it'll cost me 60 to get there. AC/DC was 60 and the train up will be ~26. I will be in London for the 25th June when Chickenfoot is therefore....but it's around 35. I'm unemployed, that's tough. They might do Download anyway, too.

Question is this: Do you think this'll be my only chance to see them or not? I mean, if they're likely to stick around beyond the 2009 tour I'm in no real rush to see them. I'll be in North America for a full year in 2 years time and can catch the old man Sammy will have become then, probably with Mike still opening for him, and Satriani tours the UK regularly (not a Chad Smith fanboy really). But what are the chances I'll get to see them together after this? That's the decider.

It's an awesome June for me and they'd be the icing on the cake. But with all that going on, I can't decide if I need the icing or not!

do the deal. The planets have obviously lined up for you to knock out a lot of great bands in a short amount of time. I don't expect Chickenfoot to be anything beyond a one-and-out deal so see them if you can.

No one knows your financial situation better than you so I can't really speak to that but if you can afford the rest of that itinerary, adding chickenfoot probably won't break you.

    Have a great time!

I agree, if you can go, go! Life's short.

But when your unemployed. It's definitely a tougher decision to make.

If everybody used that logic we'd all be buying sports cars and going to see every Sammy Hagar show that he played.

Man, I would try a lot of stuff to raise an extra $35 for this show if I was in that situation. Even if it's selling something on Ebay or returning pop cans.

Oh believe me. I would TOO! (I don't know about selling pop cans. I might start doing that for when Van Halen comes out with a new album and decides to tour on it, because I might have enough time than.

Hell, I shouldn't have gone to many concerts for the money I spent. A kid my age, paying big money to go see a band. Some people find that LOONY!

    But....it made me happy.

I was just commenting from the other side where you can't just say, "Just do it if you want to."

And NO I don't work for Nike

Hell, people said I was crazy for blowing all my money on concerts back when they were usually less than $15!

But....it did indeed make me happy!

If you can make it work, do it. Like it was said above, I don't see this being an ongoing deal past this current tour.

If you can swing it without slighting real financial responsibilities you should definitely go. Life is short and a killer show like that doesn't come around that often. Not here anyway.

If you find yourself short of money you could try drug-dealing (I hear that's quite lucrative) or even selling a family member for medical experiments/white slavery etc. Don't do anything crazy mind you.

Honestly, I hope this band will last, but I'm not going to miss the opportunity myself, just in case. I hope we get at least 3 albums and at least short tours, but my big question marks are:

If the chili's reconvene & their respective ages.

However, I have a feeling this album could become quite a cult classic and I want to be there, right when it all kicked off.
A man could lose himself in a country like this.

If it is something you want bad enough there is no reason why you can't have it unless you are lazy. The problem is most people think they want something but don't want to work for it. If you want a sports car than work hard, save money and go buy one.

There is no reason you can't have everything you want in life and only work a half a day six days a week. Just decided if you prefer to work the first 12 hours or second 12 hours of the day. You do a 72 hour work week and you can afford to go to a Chickenfoot show. If you are unemployed start a business.
