    Default Dweezil Talks Shop

Stumbled upon this on youtube. VERY cool stuff.

He breaks down his rig and talks about his guitars, how they're set up, how they're wired etc and what he's using on the road for the Zappa Plays Zappa tour. I love this guy.

it's almost 17 minutes long so get comfy, grab a drink and enjoy!

    The Dweez is the SHIT.

I've been a BIG fan of his since day one.

I still think his first album is his best, though.

Man. To be able to play like that at 15!
I'm pretty close to his age and distinctly remember being floored by the fact he could play like that at such a young age.
I've ALWAYS really looked to him.

I met him right after he released "My Guitar..." and he was the most down to earth dude I've ever met. And, years later, got to play softball with him, Ahmet, and a good friend of mine.

I don't think he's EVER gotten the widespread credit he's due...

    Thanks for posting that!

    you're absolutely welcome.

You're right Dweezil has sort of been flying under the radar his entire life but you know what? I get the distinct feeling that he wouldn't have it any other way. I think there's a certain freedom that comes with that, a freedom that guys like EVH don't get and would probably love to have.

    Yes, and yes again.

I think the Zappa Plays Zappa project turned some heads, though.

Amazing player and seems to be really nice guy. I would agree that the Zappa plays Zappa project made more than a few people sit up and take notice. Someone posted in here a week or so ago that they had seen the tour last year (or was it two years ago?) when Vai was on board and felt Dweezil was the more "enjoyable" of the two. That's saying something.

I saw the first tour (mostly to see vai) but have always known dweezle was great. what was impressive is how much he studies his dads music and has become a much more complete musician compared to his 80's stint.

oddly enough Zappa plays Zappa was on t.v. over here again last night, i've always liked Dweezil, his music has a certain sense of humour that i greatly appreciate, and watching him play alongside Vai just goes to show what a rounded player he really is, he made it look effortless....i just wish they would bring the tour over here to the U.K.

His 1993 "Confessions" CD was GREAT! Guest players such as Lukather, DeMartini, Nuno, Zakk, Tim Pierce and others played on it.

Fun rock tunes with loads of humor!
