Default New baby with GFS pickups

I've had a notion for something Gibson-y for a while now, and finally caved and bought a Tokai USG75 from my local guitar shop. They gave me a good price 'cause it's been hanging there for a long time, and I've always had my eye on it. The USG75 is Japanese made, and some say they are comparable quality to the Gibson SG Standard, but more consistent, and about half the price. Anyway, I can say the build quality is top notch; details like the fret finish and so on are as good as you could want.

    Here it is:

It plays beautifully with a ridiculously low action, and the stock pickups were decent vintage PAF style efforts. Having read all the good things on here about GFS pups, however, I decided to order a pair of their Fat PAFs. Fantastic service from that company - I ordered them on a Thursday and had them the following Monday. That's all the way from the USA to Northern Ireland in four days, including the weekend. I'm very impressed with these pups for the price. I recorded a very quick sample of the bridge position, of course featuring a couple of AC/DC riffs (excuse the sloppy playing - haven't the time to work on my chops lately):

And finally, here it is posed next to the Ibanez RG2550Z I got just before Christmas - I put a DiMarzio Tone Zone and Air Norton combo in that. It's another fine example of Japanese guitar building:

HERE AND GONE by Haylen Beck (Stuart Neville writing as...) - "It doesn't get better than this." - Lee Child, "Highly recommended." - Harlan Coben, "Cancel all your plans and settle in for the ride." - Ruth Ware, "This is a book that lives up to the buzz." - Alafair Burke

I'm digging the RG2550Z- I picked up the identical model last November (even same color). Now that you've upgraded the pickups you have essentially the new '09 RG3550MZ. I still have the stock Dimarzio/IBZ pickups in mine- too many other little guitar projects going on... I love my Wolfgang, but that Ibanez Wizard neck is a thing of beauty and the fully floating Edge Zero trem is great.
