    DISH Network Users

Anybody get their new DISH Network Smart Cards??

We got ours yesterday, and once we installed it - welp we lost all our channels and are now stuck with a bunch of infomercial channels...

Now we must wait until Tuesday for a tech guy to come...

    so fucking gay!

I almost got Dish Network when i got pissed at Directv, but i ended up not doin it, what really sucks is Time Warner Cable, i used to have that, and it was always an issue with it, only had a little trouble with Directv, my biggest problem with them is that its expensive

Yeah, same here. I looked at Dish HD after I had left DirecTV and went with Brighthouse (formerly T/W here), but looking at the fine print, the prices were close to the same. After getting overall shitty service from Brighthouse, I went back with DirecTV, although they may be getting the boot again this Summer if the prices keep going up. Although there were frequent outages with Brighthouse, the price was significantly lower....probably because I didn't have to lease 4 receivers for cable.

I'm tired of spending $100+ a month to get a bunch of channels I don't watch. I can watch most of my shows over the internet.

Cable and Satellite TV is one of the biggest ripoffs ever thrown upon the public.

I may invest in a good over air antenna, but in the sticks where I live, I don't know how much good it would do. Most TV stations are 50+ miles from where I live. I know I used to get a couple stations when I lived here before over my rabbit ears, but there was usually a little snow to go along with the picture.

I agree, 30% of the channels on DISH are gay jewelry/infomercial channels...

Direct tv is filled with the shopping stuff as well. I just delete it from my menu.

Someday, someone is going to come up with an a la carte service for television where you choose what channels you want and that's all you pay for and they should make a ton of dough. It'd be nice to go back to the ol' rabbit ears but I do need my ESPNs, MLB network and now that we finally have it, Fox Sports Florida, plus the wife would probably go postal if I engaged a service that didn't have Lifetime or LMN. But I sure as hell don't need M-TV, Tru or the Cartoon Network, nor any channel where English not a priority language, and about a billion other channels that my remote never lands on.

Add Hallmark Channel and ABC Family to that list and you have Mrs VHR down perfectly. Seems as though she's found some sort of chick flick on one of those channels whilst I go shopping on Saturday.

we had Hallmark HD as part of a separate, 6 channel package, none of which I ever watched, so I cancelled it to get that 6 bucks off the bill, and I thought she was going to kill me! Now realise, this is a woman, that because of her job is never home, and every time I look she's on Lifetime or LMN, so I didn't see it as any big deal. But she was incredulous. If only I'd realised that we still have the Hallmark 4:3 channel could've avoided it from the start as she doesn't grasp the beauty of HD over 4:3 yet.

When DirecTV sent me new cards I had an issue, but they resolved the issue over the phone and had my satellite back up in less than half an hour. Seems strange that Dish could not do the same.
