    Hey guys...

Just thought I would let everyone know that the new Eventide Pitchfactor is shipping now. I've already got the time factor and am looking forward to this unit...

Ya... if this thing has the same algorithm in it that the H3000 series has... and this thing can do a full stereo detune, I'm getting one.

The H3000 was what Ed used from about 1990-1998 (and maybe until 2004, I'm not sure). It let him detune his 2 outside effects cabs very slightly, which gives a really crisp and full sound to the base tone of about any amp.

This new pedal does lots of things, but it basically will do pitchshifting, harmonies, and detuning.

Their other pedals (TimeFactor, ModFactor) are $499 on the Eventide site and $399 at Guitar Center. The PitchFactor is $579 on the Eventide site so perhaps it will be around $479 at GC. There is also a $25 rebate at the online store but it is more expensive there anyway. At least I saw something about the rebate yesterday, but today I can't seem to find it.

Agreed, and what set it apart back then was the QUALITY of the signal it reproduced. I had a $600 stereo rack unit that did Detuning back then, but I couldn't make a track sound like "3:16" for the life of me.

The effect on that track truly makes it sound like he had a 12 string guitar going, or had double-tracked it by playing over himself, etc. The unit was $2400+ back then, and truly took a sh*t on anything else on the market when it came to shifting, chorusing, micro pitchshifting, effected delays, etc.

Eventide's 949 was the model he used on OU812, and you can really hear the effect throughout that whole album, yet his tone retains it's Marshall-y elements. Although people rag on that album's mixing, I really like his guitar tones on that one.

You are correct. You can REALLY hear the quality difference of the different Eventides between OU812/5150 tone and Unlawful/Balance tone. The earlier albums' tone still sounds great, but if you listen to the detuning alone -- no comparison. The 949 really colors the sound (which is really cool too in it's own way). The H3000 is way more transparent, and makes the tone more crisp and clean.

His live tone on the 5150 tour was AMAZING. 949s there.

Awesome. Can't wait to hear what one of these can do. $479 is a lot of cheese though...

    Hey Guys,

the pedal came in the mail yesterday and I've only gone throught the MicroPitch(Detune) and 949 options and they are great! Really full sounding, great articulation one of the presets 14:2 is a MircoPitch with a little ajusting and 5150/Wolfgang combo its pretty dang close to Balance...

If anyone's got the scrill yet can't afford the h8000 by Eventide this a great way to get your hands on the Eventide sound...

How are you using the pedal? (in front of the amp? In the loop? W/D?)

Can you adjust the amount of microshift? I assume you can adjust the level of the effect? The old 949s and 910s, you couldn't blend the original tone. . .you had to use a mixer with them to hear the dry and the shifted signal.

The pedal is in the loop.

You can adjust the level of the effect and amp on the 910/949 and the pitchshift. After a few hours I feel like I've got a pretty good approximation of the Balance era tone...
