Default The Mighty Foot: What Songs by Which Bands

Alright. Since VH News Desk opened the can of of worms on playing
respective material, what songs by what bands? As if the Chicken cares...

Chilis: Stone Cold Bush. Breaking the Girl. Please God, no Under the Bridge.
Give it Away could be interesting based on Sam's ability to not sound like a
    white man rapping.

Satch: I dunno. I love the guy but I don't care much about his music anymore.
Never knocked out by Surfing With the Alien, for example, but it could give Sam
something to do and keep the the party vibe going as well. Whatever they do, I think
it would the most interesting to just jam with Sam and get him involved. Not a fan of
his playing, but who cares? It's about going live and being a band, right?

VH: Here's the reason I wish they weren't doing this, but oh well, no biggie.
I'm gonna go nuts and say it wouldn't even have to be Sam Halen and that
Joe would sound best on Mean Street (shit, Sam wouldn't sound bad either)
or something early like Atomic Punk or Beautiful Girls. Can't think of any
Van Hagar I'd wanna hear right now (ahem), but speaking of Sam, he'd
could also sing the shit outta something like Dance the Night Away better
than Dave could these days. And that would be what would be cool about
doing it; it would be a crowd-pleasing tip of the hat while also simultaneously
    smacking down the gauntlet.
It's on. I'll have the Chicken.

Why would Sam sing Dave songs?

I could see Joe playing AFU, Black and Blue , Sucker IN A 3, Good Enough, Humans Being, Judgment Day,Top of the World, maybe just a few more,

the only thing I really dont want to hear come from anybodys mouth is that these songs are better than the originals Or that Joe plays them better than Eddie. Dont get me wrong Joe is one of the worlds best and he will have a chance to doctor those songs up and make them his for the moment but I can already see this happening.

We all know there are numerous people at this point in time who can play Eddie's songs "better" than he can. In fact, the best I've ever heard anybody play Eddie's songs was probably by Brian Young when he was in the Atomic Punks. That being said, Eddie was the one who created and perfected all of those incredible tunes. Just as it doesn't make someone Houdini because he can pull a rabbit out of a hat, it doesn't make someone Eddie Van Halen because he can play his songs.

I understand your point but young Eddie cant be beat at his own stuff. We all know what happened to Eddie later on in life.

Brian Young is an awesome guitar.

He's a damn good player, too

Let's see. Higher Ground, Give It Away (as I said before, Sam broke into it a couple times on the FUCK Tour), Stone Cold Bush.

For Satch, it would be great if they did If I Could Fly just to piss off Coldplay. Realistically, I'm not very in tune with Satch's stuff, so sadly I can't offer much perspective.

For VH, I think Satch can pull off a lot of it. Good Enough, AFU, Sucker in a 3 Piece, Judgement Day, Runaround, The Dream is Over, Humans Being.

Damnit, threads like this just keep getting me more excited

Ya know, the way Eddie played last tour, mainly the 2nd leg, was friggin' sweet. I'm sorta annoyed at the "the way he plays these days" comments. I mean, sure...he had some bad nights between the '04 tour and some of the first leg of the last one....but, he was playing in top form afterwards. The guy seems to be happy, healthy, and doing fine these days. I'm thinking that the next time we see/hear the guy we wont be dissaponted at all. Just my take.

    Now.....as for the thread lol....

Peppers: I'm not too familiar with all their stuff...but whatever they do i'm sure it'll be cool.

Satch: I'd love to see them do a jam on Surfin' With The Alien...or even have them do Big Bad Moon so Joe can sing one for the hell of it. No Satch Boogie, though....but i bet they do it anyway.

VH: Well, i'm sure Satch can play the stuff...his style is in the same vein. I'd like to see them do Runaround so that the guys from VR could see how a proper band plays it. Maybe Best of Both Worlds, 5150 would be great, too. Whatever they do, as long as they come out and play it from the heart and lay off the jabs at Eddie it'd be a cool thing to see. Much better than that hack Vic from the Cabos.

I don't know any Joe Satriani or any Chili Peppers stuff outside of the "usuals"...

As for the VH and solo Sammy... I'd like "Judgment Day", "BOBW", "Salvation On Sand Hill", and how 'bout an obscure, fun one.. "Fools"...

I'm not too big on the Hagar era but "Judgement Day" and "Humans Being" would be pretty neat to hear.

You know they will just stick with Right now, Dreams & WCTBL. ZZZZZZ......

BTW, we all now how Vai sounded in 86 & 88 live. The thinner tone on old VH just don't cut it. You think Satch will be much different? I'm am not sure?

Yeah its kinda hard to tell what songs they would pick from their respective bands.

I think the songs that MIGHT get into the set are:

VH: Sucker in a 3 piece. Humans Being. Amsterdam. Poundcake (maybe)

Chilli Peppers: Higher Ground is the only good one I can think of

Solo Satch: Big Bad Moon. Surfing with the Alien. AWM-AWY. Mind Storm

I can see there being a dilemma about which songs to choose because not only are the fans going to want to hear the CHICKENFOOT songs but they are also going to want to hear a few gems from 3 other bands too. Personally, I think they should do JUST chickenfoot songs but thats just me.

BOISE STATE BRONCOS! - They're awesome. Deal with it!

11/16/04 - VAN HALEN in Boise, Idaho. Changed my life forever

8/8/06 - Sammy Hagar and the Wabos w/Michael Anthony in Boise, Idaho. Sam and Mike still kick ass

Well there's slim times when my words won't rhyme
And the hills I face are a long hard climb
I just sit cross legged with my old guitar
It kind of makes me feel like a rock and roll star

Well it makes me laugh Lord it makes me cry
And I think for once let me just get high
Let me get electric put a silk suit on
Turn my old guitar into a tommy gun

    And root-toot-shoot myself to fame
Every kid alive gonna know my name
An overnight phenomenon like there's never been
A motivated supersonic king of the scene

I'll be a teenage idol, just give me a break
I'm gonna be a teenage idol no matter how long it takes
You can't imagine what it means to me
I'm gonna grab myself a place in history
A teenage idol that's what I'm gonna be

Well life is short and the world is rough
And if you're gonna boogie boy you got to be tough
Nobody knows if I'm dead or alive
I just drink myself to sleep each night

And so I pray to the teenage god of rock
If I make it big let me stay on top
You got to cut me loose from this one room dive
Put me on the ladder keep this boy alive

I forgot to list solo Sam songs, which if you ask me, I think would translate better than anything else, really.

High Hopes would be badass. I'd LOVE to see Sam dig into the vaults and pull out Swept Away, even if it's just this one time. Salvation on Sand Hill, Little White Lie, Karma Wheel, Bad Motor Scooter (Sam's overlooked this one for a few years, and having Mike and Joe on this one would kick serious arse).
