    Default DLR Band

Anyone else love this Cd and think it's underrated?

I had the honor of becoming friends with Mike Hartman during the process running a guitar site. Sadly a year or so later he succmed from his cystic fybrosis. He only had two tunes on the Cd in the end and John 5 did most of the rest.

But what a fucking CD. Am I the only one who loves it? Besides Dave's voice being older and with less multi octave scream potential.

Black Light still blows me away. LOVE that tune.

Lose the Dress(Keep the shoes) is fucking perfect and imo what rock and roll should be about. Genius.

Black Sand is a nice tune and Weekend with the Babysitter is gold.

Love this CD. Any love for DLR band?

Ooh, too late to edit. Mike was on 3 tunes not 2.(it's been 11 years) :O Slam Dunk, King of the Hill, and Indeedido. He met Steve Vai being real sick and meeting Vai through make a wish foundation he got a connection to Dave. He got healthy and productive but it was short lived sadly.

Anyways, had a few put the Cd in and thought man wonder if anyone else at the links site loves this cd. eh?

Not to mention Dave's cover of Tomorrow Never Knows on Diamond Dave...love it. Like the original better but a cool cd and version imo.

Yeah, Dave's lyrical charm shines through on a few songs on here. Unfortunately, his voice really isn't that good on a lot of the tunes, and the production levels are low.

But, that is being nit-picky, the album rocks. I always loved Little Texas. I believe Terry Kilgore contributed some guitar work to the album as well.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Agreed.

"King of the Hill" and "Black Sand" are stand-outs for me. Sure Dave's vocals blow on the album, but it doesn't diminish the fact that the music is damn good.

Sam gave us "Marching to Mars," Dave gave us "DLR Band," and VH gave us "Van Halen III." Bad work ethic? Would've been an 'embarrassment' if they toured? Sure, Ed...

The album DLR Band with VH behind him and a good producer is a hit album.

As it is, it's still killer. Slam Dunk, King of the Hill, Black Sand, and Black Light are all badass. Not really a bad song on there. Some great lyrics, Dave can always bring the lyrics.

If your on the Links, and don't have this album, go get it, you'll love it.

Beautiful little album - if this were a VH album it would have kicked ass. Now, blend this cd with the VH sound from late Hagar and even a few tracks off of III and you have GOLD !

I never really thought of that before, but Dave and Sam's best solo albums IMHO (just ahead of Eat Em' and Standing Hampton) came right at the time of Van Halen's colossal piece of shit. Sam and Dave both got booted and both came up with 5 star efforts. And to think, if something had worked out between one of them and VH, we wouldn't have one of or maybe both of these albums.

GREAT album. Didn't really care about Dave's vox since the music was so damn good. Lose The Dress is a personal fave, as well as Tight and King Of The Hill.

I remember really liking the cd when it came out. To bad Dave didn't play more songs live instead of the VH tribute act at the time.

Also to bad it didn't have better production. BUT like was mentioned, some solid tracks on this disk.

I may have to dig it out tommorrow.

"Black Sand" is a great song!

Would've loved to have heard VH record that.
