Default Musician's Friend: Scratch n Dent items

Has anybody here ever bought a scratch n dent item from Musician's Friend? How scratched and how dented I guess is my question? I'm thinking about buying a 20-30w practice amp from there. I don't care if it has blemishes but I don't want the thing to show up at my house rattling. I guess it's buyer beware but I wanted to see if you guys had insight or experience with scratch n dents.

I never have personaly, but had friends that did. All were happy.
    From guitars to amps.
The "scratches and dents" are mearly that. They cant sell the stuff new cause of the defects.
When in dought, slip em a call. They treat customers pretty cool. Just try and call at an unbusy time. Like mid morning if possable.

i've bought maybe 20 items from their scratch and dent inventory. never had a problem.

only slight problem was i bought a powered speaker that was DOA. they replaced it, no charge to me.

i think they are the best online store around.

I actually bought a Fender Combo scratch n dent...The only thing about it was that the previous owner had put new tubes in it. That kinda frustrated me..When I buy a new amp, I want to hear the way it's "supposed" to sound. I also bought some scratch and dent headphones...and I think the speakers were blown. I personally have sworn off Musicians Friend...Their customer service has been extremely poor my last orders.

i was perusing their scratch and dent selection a few days back. If you have a guitar center in your area, look through their scratch and dent stuff. That way you can touch and feel it before it shows up at your door. Otherwise, I wouldn't hesitate. I've had nothing but really great customer service experiences with them.

Being a huge chain, I'm sure people have had problems with their customer service. However, personally I've had nothing but good experiences with them. I've bought some scratch n' dent stuff that I couldn't even find anything wrong with. They've also been great about returning things.

absolutely...when you deal with as many people as they do, there are going to be some dissatisfied folks...no one bats 1000. But in my limited experience with them, they're top notch.

A lot of the scratch and dent stuff is simply returned gear...like the talk box I ordered for xmas and realized I couldn't use.

Thanks for your help, guys. I just bought this 30w Marshall DFX amp from Musiciansfriend for $173 and there's a small blemish on the back of the cabinet the size of a fingernail. I'm thrilled at how it plays and the effects are pretty good for a practice amp. Now I don't have to lug the 5150 212 combo around anymore. Great experience with musiciansfriend. Got the amp 3 days after ordering it.

Here's a pic of it... They're gone from musiciansfriend for now.
