That is way better looking than any EVH Wolfgang I have seen yet man!

May I ask how you taped off the 'natural' binding so cleanly? Did you use a flat template for the top or something?

Thansk for the props ! The back is Alder. The half inch cap was something different for sure. Instead of a thick carve top. I came up with this idea that you still have the flat top look and feel. I pick through pieces to make sure they are not too heavy considering they are thicker. A body like this has a lot of attack and definition. Sounds great.

I will give credit to my finish guy ! He was showing me what he does. After the body is sealed, He has a tool that you go around the edge that scours a microscopic groove that creates a line / barrier and it is carefully masked. I requested a deeper cherry for the back. I love the way it came out. It almost looks opaque. but in person you can barely see the grain. The top came out like fire ! He does great work.

Ya man, that finishing guy is brilliant! I hope the CNC machine neck guy that you are working with is just as good .

That is a tough line to do in the staining stage... I'd love to save the money and not have to do plastic binding, but it is so hard to get that nice clean line without the stain soaking its way around it! I even think that when done like that, the 'natural' binding thing looks much better.

    Great guitar.

    Great guitar.
This is not a stain, but a trans. He uses the same technique for both. A lot of guitars are trans. I like both. Trans is just as nice if it is done right. Dyes sometimes are overdone. But when done right also, they enhance the swells in the maple nicely ! You can tell by the top if it looks muddy, I have seen some lately that look muddy. The are over dyed. I have always wanted to really get into finishing, but realized it is best to stick to what I am good at. I realized at one point in my life being a one man band does not get much done. Great finish work is very time consuming.

    just something outta left field.

I was noticing from my EBMM axis that it is a little awkward to play sitting down. that is the bottom curve where it sits on your leg is a bit too close maybe to the horn making the guitar pull a bit back and make the playing a bit cramped.

    have you even noticed this?

i know it is like a les paul but has anyone experimented with it to sit more like a strat which is more comfortable to play sitting down?

    cheers

Hmmm...... a little bit, probably because the lower bout is a little rounder/ bulkier. And if you get one that is a little body heavy it makes it roll off even more.

    yeah that is true

it makes my left arm cramp a bit too close to my body when playing. This is why i think these guitars are more seen to be played at the side of the body rather than the middle like a strat.

just off on a tangent here

    lol
