Default It isn't Van Halen unless...

I haven't posted here in quite some time. I see the same old arguments and complaints are going on, whether it's Dave or Sam.

    Sigh.

I saw the last tour and I was impressed with Dave and Eddie and Alex. Not bad. Quite good in fact.

Yeah, I missed Mike and it would have certainly been a better show had he been there.

But it appears there would not have been ANY Van Halen without Wolfgang's intervention.

So would you rather have the present Van Halen or no Van Halen?

All these posters that say "it isn't VH without... Mike or Dave or Sam" or who say "it will never be VH with Wolfgang" miss the point.

Van Halen is now Eddies baby. It has been since 1985.

It isn't Van Halen if Eddie's not there. That's it.

If Eddie plays with whoever he chooses and decides to call it Van Halen, it will legally be called Van Halen. Live with it.

If Eddie dies, there will be no Van Halen. Sorry to say, but if Alex died, Ed could still make a go of it. But if the opposite occurred, sorry.

Now, the fact that Eddie has appeared to be messed up for about 15 years just goes to show the state of being Van Halen is in.

I will be the Chickenfoot thing DOES spur a release from Eddie and Dave. It will be interesting to watch/hear.

While I completely agree with that point, you do realize that it triggers the inevitable shit storm every bit as much as a Dave vs. Sam debate, right?

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.

I still think VH was a "band" after Dave left, everyone seemed to get along and they had a great working relationship with Sammy until Ed Lefler died.....IMO that's when it stopped being VH. It was different with Sam than it was with Dave and I understand why some people get all bent out of shape about Dave leaving but to me it was VH with Sam, it was "kind of" VH with Balance (I'm talking the "band" not the CD casue I think the CD was pretty good) since then and especially since 1996 nothing these guys have done has been VH to me, 04 could have been great but ED almost went out of his way to derail that thing and knowing what Iknow now about how they treated Mike really takes away from that....07-good for Dave, I'm glad he did well but seeing him not say a word now for what? 2 years is mind boggling, part of the original VH's charm was Dave and when he can't speak...well that "speaks" volumes about where this "band" is at now.

Isn't he trying to make the point that in the world of VH there will always be arguments between fans, many of them over what are essentially similar things?
