Default Another vote for Guitar Fetish VEH pickup

I put one in my OLP MM1 Frankie project, and it is a great pickup!!! I am totally impressed, and I must say it rivals pickups costing much more!!! No mud, nice harmonics, and sounds great clean. I must say it is brilliant!!!

Can't wait to hear it out of a Boobtone amp...
Dammit!!! I still smell like cotton candy!!!

How is it in terms of clarity? I'd be putting one in an alder strat project guitar using mostly my 5150 head. The clips on the their site suck. Does it retain clarity and note definition? How about the bottom end?

It's pretty clear. I was using in my Pod, and I will give more reviews of it after hearing it through a Boobtone (which is a Marshall Pexi clone) Sunday. I used it in a basswood guitar, and the low end was thick.

It isn't the greatest through the lead channel of a 5150... unless you roll the gain back. If you are used to Tone Zones or other high output pickups, you will definitely need to re-tweak your settings for the VEH. It does sound really sweet on the rhythm channel with the gain cranked... very Plexi sounding...

    Overall, a great pickup though.

I put mine in an Alder bodied strat with a Floyd, and as I said in an earlier post, it has good clarity throughout, but the bottom end has more an open-vowel sound than a tight, compressed bottom end.

I'm going to bring with me to a gig tonight the axe I built with the VEH pups. It'll be my backup, but I'll probably pull it out for a couple of tunes. I have yet to actually play the thing through my main rig (5150 II + Marshall JCM 900 4x12). So I'll report back about how the VEHs sound--because I won't know until we're jamming those tunes live tonight!

Yeah... I EQed my amp to the room at my gig last Friday on my Wolfgang and grabbed my Parts-o-caster with the VEHs halfway through the set. The damn thing sounded AWESOME, both clean and dirty. The neck pickup is quite nice as well.

I was thinking of actually using a VEH rather than my Custom Custom in my new Wolfgang replacement. Tough decision...

Speaking of Guitar Fetish- if you have an import traditional trem, I can vouch for the steel replacement block. It fits right in the same slot as the original trem block. It easily weighs twice (or more) than the wimpy zinc block. I can feel sustain-flick that block and it sings compared to the stock zinc block. It is on my OLP MM1 Frankie w/VEH neck pup. I will give a full review very, very soon...

I'd like to see that OLP/ Frankie. I have one, that I use more than my Wolf. I have GFS Hot PAT, in the bridge position & a Mean 90 in the neck. Love the way it sounds, although I was debating putting a VEH in the bridge.

I have an OLP also and I was wondering what kind of pickups came stock in them?
