    Default Question about EMG Pickups

i want to put a 81/85 set in my 1993 epi les paul classic , but ive removed the tone pots and installed the pickup selector switch and a killswitch button in the tonepot holes.

can emgs be installed with just volume knobs ? and will there be enough room in the control cavity for a battery ? the pick up selector cavity is empty but i dont know how long the battery supply wire is.

    thanks , rick.

Good question! Have you tried test fitting the battery in the P/U cavity?

You'll have room. You will want to wrap the battery in foam to keep it out of contact with the pot's switches. The 81/85's and all EMG's come with both volume and tone pots so if you need to rewire to original spec's you can. You'll also want the battery easily accessible so you can replace when needed. If you need help with wiring the EMG's send me an email.

Yes, you can install a volume knob-only set up with EMGs, and on the EMG website, it has instuctions on how to do just a volume-only fitment. If it were me, I would put the battery in the control cavity, not the selector switch hole. Also, I would consider the two 9v battery mod, as you get more headroom. You can google the instructions.
Dammit!!! I still smell like cotton candy!!!
