It's not often I can say something REMOTELY positive about this lineup, so allow me to copy/paste my sentiments from the other thread:

"We'll see. I still won't believe it until it's in my hands, blasting in my car stereo down I-355.

But hey, at least there's promise. That's always something."

"I respect that youre passionate about this but what your saying is complete idiocy..." - MF5150 on McDonald's "preying" on young kids.

"He was born a human, he's a horse's ass by proxy." - It's Mike on Eddymon.

They just need to do what got them there in the first place and we can all move on with our lives!

Yeah, hope is nice. I don't want to get my hopes up too much and have them crushed, but I can't help but anticipate at least a little bit. And I'm all for the blues, if they go that route.

Still, official confirmation would be nice.

Indeed. Like I said, I won't even believe anything until I have the disc in my hand. Which means I'm by no means holding my breath.

Still, the prospect of it is very exciting nonetheless.

always loved when ed would do those bluesy interludes in concert, esp in his solos on the 84 tour. he did some of that again last tour, but not to the extent he used to.

listening to them do crossroads and spoonful last tour was just killer.

i'm definitely diggin on some blues tunes from the boys with groove

His '84 solo may have been my favorite of his. Why? It's gonna sound crazy, but it's because he didn't over-emphasize "Eruption."

That may sound silly, but what made the '84 solo so unique is that he went on for a good 14 minutes every night without indulging too much into that signature piece and playing whatever the hell he wanted to. Considering he was at his peak around this period, most of the improv stuff he'd do was just killer, and he did a TON of stuff you'd never hear again on another tour (he recycled a lot of solo riffs on other tours and used a lot of pieces like "Little Guitars," "Cathedral," etc.).

My favorite part had to be when Al would come out and they'd just do that bluesy jam. I really hated the 1984 tour (Setlist was God-awful and everything was played too fast. Adding speed ain't bad, they added too much), but his solo was really one of the brightest moments of just about every show I've heard.

J, you're making me have to pull out my Montreal '84 DVD out of the dust, ya bastard

If it is a good album, I won't care if Mike is there or not.

I've got too much going on in my own life to worry about Mike, and in my opinion he has a better gig now anyway.

5150 was a great album, therefore I really didn't miss Dave that much, and I thought EEAS was a great album too, so that was almost a bonus.

Maybe we can actually get a great Chickenfoot album in 2009 and a great VH album in 2010.

I am betting on the former more than the later, but hope springs eternal.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

DONATE TO THE LINKS YA CHEAP BASTARDS!!!!

As long as they can come up with something better than "Me Wise Magic" and "Can't Get This Stuff No More" I think it will be a good album. Remember how we were starved for 12 years until these two nuggetts came out? Nice to hear them together again, but not that inspiring, really, compared to their explosive days together.

And...to be fair, "Up for Breakfast" could have stayed on one of those cassette tapes in Eddie's noodleing box as far as I am concerned. Just as bad.

    Gotta wish them luck though!

I wonder if Chickenfoot will be a better album???

Marching to Mars sure was better than VH3 imo.

    Eddie Van Halen in 2012:

"ESQ: What are you going to do with all the material that you wrote with Sammy Hagar?

EVH: Oh, I hadn't thought about that. That's some great music. They're just on vacation, maybe. They're off to college and they're going their own way. Who knows?"

Which is pretty much like saying that Richard Simmons is more macho than Liberace.

If they had a whole disk of those two songs I would be thrilled. Me Wise Magic is a great song, CGTSNM a bit less so, but still better than average (One Foot Out the Door, anyone?).

And to be fair, Up for Breakfast-minus the words-has potential. It's just the stupid lyrics and chorus that kill that song.

No matter what kind of music it is, I will be buying it, since I missed the mistake of buying Van Halen III (although it came highly recommended by OLO ).
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.
