I don't know about lumping bands like AC/DC, who lost one original (well, original as far as album recordings go) member but otherwise have the same members that were in the band in 1980 (with only a brief exit by Phil Rudd in that time) to a band like Chicago, which probably has little resemblance to their early incarnation.

And did anybody know about the Dixie Chicks before Natalie Maines was in the band?

Yeah, I see what you are saying, but I did get a kick out of the Cherone reference.

And AC/DC was missing another member at one point, Malcolm was absent during the 1988 tour to deal with his alcoholism, he was replaced by his Nephew.

Seems the common theme of that little slide was the carrying on in spite of personnel changes. If you think about it, any band that's been around has had at least one change. The only Rock bands that have been with the same members throughout that I can think of is U2 and Led Zeppelin and one can now argue that LZ tainted that a bit with the reunions with Jason Bonham.

Fuck it. When you were 14 you said you were gonna rock until you died and you meant it.
But last time I checked, Rick Wright still dead. I think that's it for Floyd.

Leaving out the Pual Rodgers project, Queen always had the same 4 members. And of course, ZZ Top didn't have any line up changes.

I stand corrected regarding ZZ Top.

As for Queen, it pains me to see whats happened since Freddie died. More power to Queen + Paul Rodgers but why license the classic music to the likes of Walmart so that I hear "We Will Rock You" a dozen times while I'm shopping?

Under a new Ohio law, "classic" bands must have at least one original member performing in order to bill themselves as such....I believe something like 20 other states have a similar law

It's a Consumer Sales Practices Act issue and failure to comply could mean a $15,000 fine!

The guy who portrayed "Bowser" in Sha Na Na was one of the vocal proponents of the bill....his point was that if Federal Trademark laws were enforced it wouln't be a problem, but without enforcement, consumers needed to be protected from unscrupulous imposter bands

Funny how much Angus looks like David Letterman in that pic.

And I forget the dudes name, but the guy in the center of that Def Lep pic totally looks like a chic.

    Ahhhh good ole' Ohio......

Pass laws to protect consumers.....but we'll let ACORN do whatever the fuck they want.

I am , however, very proud to be a Buckeye....I love my state, even with it's occasional stupidity.

Interesting list considering so many of those bands have lost their essence and might as well be dead, while so many others are touring/recording machines who always deliver. They're basically the names that never die in most cases, but some, despite personnel changes, maintain their strength. Some of these bands I wish would just die, others I wish were more alive than they really are.

Where's Foreigner? That's almost a joke of a band anymore.
