I can understand why Ron has them, but why are you guys collecting them? Not trying to offend, just curious. Hell I was born in 1971, I don't have any.

Dude I know that, hence my comment about Ron.

Unless you do it for a living, I didn't know some guys were going to bulld a multitude of Franks.

does that quarter actually do anything? i think i read a while back somewhere that eddie took too much wood off the guitar and used the quarter for the bridge to rest on. but every picture i have seen, the quarter is mounted next to the bridge and not under it to hold it up....its just there doing nothing.

Years ago, one of my friends tried in vain to find a Kennedy half dollar in the year of his father's birth, for a birthday gift to his dad. I had to point out to him that since the coins did not contain JFK's image until 1964, he might have a difficult time finding one.

Default I did use two quarters to make Jamie a dive-only guitar

I always thought that the quarter was used to prevent the bridge from going backward. And I do believe that was the case at one time. Don't take this as gospel. I did the same thing, as I didn't want to screw around with what was essentially a well-set up guitar.

Remember, as well that Frankenstein was assembled and disassembled as often as some dudes changed girlfriends. How many necks were on there? One could make a Frankie for every neck that was on it, as there were quite a few.

I use a 1979 quarter on Jamie, as she was born in 1979. I don't know when Cotton Candy was born...

Other than decorative, the quarter today serves no purpose.

Eddie initially screwed the quarter (tails up) onto the body and partially under the bridge as a temporary fix to prevent the Floyd from floating...

...the quarter was later screwed in the same position and for the same initial purpose heads up...

...the Floyd was eventually moved up by Tom Anderson in order to correct the intonation, but if you notice (use the stripes as reference), the quarter never moved!

Okay- so I was right (at least partially).

I used quarters the same way as Eddie- just a shme I don't have his ten fingers to get his tone...
